I cried for what felt like forever before I finally remembered my mom's medical bills. I fumbled to yank out my phone and checked my bank balance in a panic. Thank goodness, last month's pay from my part-time jobs had already hit my account. That would cover mom's treatment costs for this month, at least. Just then, my phone buzzed once, then again right after. The texts were from John. John: If you're willing to come over, admit you were wrong, and grovel properly, I'll let you keep working those part-time jobs.
