Chapter 7

ALPHA BENSON “Dr. Chris, you have been the pack doctor since two years now, after your father retired. I know that you are not the one who helped my rejected mate, Emma Collins, welcome her child, who happens to be my daughter. But after what Emma did to me, I do not find her fit to be welcomed back into the sacred palace or to become my Luna. So that calls for our separation. But I would like to have a DNA test done on Celine for me to know if she is really my daughter or maybe she belongs to someone else. You know...” I trailed off, not wanting to mention my father or brother’s name here. Dr. Chris looked at me thoughtfully, because everyone in the pack was already aware that I had rejected Emma and sent her away. She was still indoors, and all this happened last month. But I am not going back or welcoming her back to the palace. “Mmm. Okay, Alpha Benson. We can have the DNA test done and invite Emma and your child, Celine, to the hospital for a DNA test,” Dr. Chris said, and I nodded. “I will need a blood sample to know if Celine is really my blood,” I said, my eyes watching Dr. Chris, and he nodded. “You don’t have anything to worry about, Alpha Benson. I will send for my assistant or one of the nurses to send the invitation to Emma’s father’s house today,” Dr. Chris assured me, and I stood up to leave his office, which was painted white and featured the anatomy of different kinds of humans and animals, most especially wolves. “Alright. I will take my leave now,” I told Dr. Chris, and he stood up and escorted me out. “Alpha Benson, would you like to see the foreigners that were brought in injured? One was from the Bright Moon Pack, and she claimed to be the Alpha’s first daughter, which I am not yet sure of. But she is an Alpha wolf. The second one is from the Dark Moon Pack, a man and an Omega. But the last is a woman from the Shadow Pack,” he concluded. “All three of them are awake except for the last one, who is yet to reveal the pack she came from, making them three women and a man,” Dr. Chris told me, and I looked at the pack members coming in and out of the hospital lobby for their treatment. They greeted me upon entering, but my focus shifted back to Dr. Chris's face. “I would like to go and see them. But I have a business meeting to attend with the neighbouring pack. Dennis will be here to get them as soon as he returns from his assignments. I have to go, and don’t forget what we discussed,” I told Dr. Chris, who replied, “Understood, Alpha.” Thereafter, I marched away from the hospital lobby and walked out of the hospital. However, as I walked down to my car parked on the hospital ground, I felt a pair of eyes watching me as I moved to my car to get in. Taking a swift glance backward, I looked at the hospital room window left ajar on the second floor, and I saw enchanting blue eyes and a beautiful short woman standing there. As soon as her eyes locked with mine, she swiftly moved away from the opened window and hid, making my brows furrow. Odin rose back and muttered, “She is the one, Benson. She is our mate.” My wolf felt so excited after a few days of shutting me out after rejecting Emma. “Mmm,” I sighed and looked back at the open window once more, hoping the lady would peek out. But I didn’t get to see her. “Is she the Alpha’s daughter of the Bright Moon Pack that Dr. Chris spoke to me about? No way,” I muttered to myself, unlocked my car door, and got in. “Maybe she is the one. But she is mine,” Odin said, but I shook my head and told him, “Don’t be too excited. Who knows if she is also a nymph like Emma? You should be more concerned why her father banished her. Alpha Bruce is a very disciplined man, and I am certain she must have done something bad for her father to send her away. So don’t get too excited about her,” I warned Odin. He calmed down and shut me out again. I sighed and focused my attention on the road as I drove back to my office. It was where I welcomed other pack Alphas to partner with us and also discuss other matters affecting our pack. The wars had ended between the top packs after we came to a business agreement. But for the upcoming packs, their lands were still under attack. So they were mostly on high alert in case of any invasion or intruders coming into their territory. I kept my gaze focused on the road, and a few minutes later, I arrived at the front of the company’s gate, while the warriors stationed there pulled the gate open and welcomed me. “Welcome, Alpha Benson,” the two warriors said. “Thank you.” I drove my car into the company grounds and parked it. When I got out, I saw that Beta Andrew had arrived too. However, he was not alone, as he arrived with a young man who resembled him, whom I assumed was his son, Ace Lennox. I hadn't met Ace, but I've heard so many stories about him, and I was certain that Ace had heard about me, too. I heard that Alpha Bruce believes in sending Ace to destroy other poor packs and wage wars against them. “Welcome, Alpha Benson. We arrived around 30 minutes ago and were told to await your arrival,” Beta Andrew said, as he walked up to shake hands with me. However, Ace stood with a strict look on his face and a narrowed expression. He was seething with rage and trying to control it as his gaze swept over me. “Ace, wouldn’t you greet Alpha Benson? He is the new Alpha of this pack. Go on and submit to him,” Beta Andrew stated, but Ace looked away and replied, “Father, I am the next leader of the Bright Moon Pack. And you do not expect me to bow to any other werewolves.” “Mm, what arrogance,” I muttered, and Ace glared at me. “Forgive him, Alpha Benson. Ace is still learning the Alpha’s training and business strategies. So please overlook his rudeness,” Beta Andrew pleaded, then looked at Ace. “What has come over you?” he asked his son, who sniffed the air like he was trying to track a scent. Ace's brown eyes glowed as he moved to meet me and sniffed me in front of my company. He did not care to submit to me or bow. He grasped my shirt and muttered, “Why do you smell so much like Mallory?” “Mallory?” I raised my eyebrows and wondered who he was talking about. “ACE!” Beta Andrew marched up to meet us and smacked Ace on the back of his head. “Are you crazy? How dare you speak of Mallory here? She is your rejected mate, and you are forbidden to mention her. Moreover, she is dead, and we heard that she was eaten by some forest animals,” Beta Andrew shouted, and Ace’s gaze fell. “I am sorry, Father. I got carried away. Forgive me, Alpha Benson.” Ace quickly let go of my brown shirt and stepped back. I looked at Ace and sighed. “Don’t let this happen again. Else, I will cut off my pack’s partnership with yours.” “Thank you, Alpha Benson,” Beta Andrew said, but I left them and walked into my company building. The staff on the first floor welcomed me, while I made my way to the elevator and rode up to my office on the fifth floor. I have several establishments, and those I'm trying to build to help my pack members.
