Mallory's POV
“My wolf?” I asked in disbelief, and the soft voice replied, “Yes. Do you want to see me?”
“Can I shift inside this hospital room? Would that be safe?" I asked Selena, and she replied, "Yes. We can shift if you want to. Or I can just shift your legs so you can feel what it's like to shift with me.”
“Oh!” I gasped, nervous and trembling.
“No, no. Not today. I just recovered, and I don't know what happened to me or how I was expelled. How about Ace? Do you feel the mate bond between us?” I asked Selena, hoping she would give me a perfect explanation of what was happening to me.
“Mallory,” Selena's warm voice reached my eardrum as she said, “I wish I knew what happened to you before I met you, but I'm sorry I don't. You were hypnotized and given a kind of injection to make you forget about me. But luckily, this hospital brought me back to you. And I have no idea how life has been for you before I met you.”
“Really?” I queried Selena once more, tears filling my eyes, and she replied, “Yes. I was bound never to meet you, and I tried so hard to reach you, but I couldn't. I was paralyzed and unable to communicate with you. But now, I can feel your energy and do anything that you want me to do for you.”
“Really? Is that why I could heal so fast now? Unlike before, when I was assumed to be an Omega she-wolf?” I asked my wolf, and she giggled.
“Yes. That was before you got your freedom. So, you are an Alpha wolf. Bloodline: strong and energetic. Weakness: traumatic past. Hobbies: reading and singing. And you are also pregnant.”
“What?!” I gasped and almost fainted.
“Is this a ridiculous joke? Pregnant by whom?” I asked, immediately lowering my voice, and Selena replied, “I don't know. Who did you mate with before your banishment?”
“Ace...” I trailed off, dread running down my spine.
“Ace slept with me without any protection and promised to protect me. How can I be pregnant? How long was that?” I asked Selena, tears welling up in my eyes. I couldn't believe that I was going to have a child soon when I was in the wrong pack and surrounded by new werewolves who looked at me like I was a threat.
“Calm down, Mallory. Your test result will soon be out, and your new crush will find out,” Selena tried to comfort me.
But I found this hard to believe, and to digest all these new discoveries about me.
First, I was an Alpha wolf. Secondly, I had a wolf, and now, I was expecting a child.
“Can I abort the pregnancy? I mean, I am already banished from the Bright Moon Pack, and I cannot return there. My father's word is law, and I cannot go back home for now. How will I cope here once they find out that I am going to have a baby soon? Please, Selena, take the baby away?” I ordered my wolf, and she went silent in my mind.
“You cannot abort the pregnancy. No one can. It's an Alpha wolf, and you cannot change your fate by doing so,” Selena told me in a sad voice.
I was sobbing just as the hospital door to my room pushed open.
A health worker came in, carrying a tray of my lunch in her hands. She was from this Crescent Moon Pack. She donned a blue uniform like a nurse but had a white apron tied at her front.
She was tall, dark-skinned, and slender, like someone in her early twenties.
“Hi, I brought your lunch. Is everything alright? Should I call the nurse?” she asked me as she arrived at my bed and set my meal on the dinner table attached to the bed.
“No. I am fine,” I told her sadly.
She said, “You don't have to be scared. You will be fine, and there's no medical problem that Dr. Chris cannot handle.”
“Thank you,” I replied with a smile and asked her, “What's your name?”
“Diane Thompson,” she said, grinning from cheek to cheek.
“It's nice to meet you, Diane. I am Mallory Adonis,” I introduced myself to her, and she nodded.
“Everything will be fine, Mallory. You're welcome to our pack,” Diane told me.
She was the second woman I had met, after Nurse Elena, who made me feel comfortable.
The men were the opposite, as they made me tense and scared and looked at me like they were predators.
“I have to go now, Mallory. If you need anything else, call the nurses' bell, and they will be here,” Diane spoke to me softly.
“I will,” I replied.
I watched her walk away, smiled in relief, and looked at the tray of food she had served on my desk.
“What's in this?” I asked myself, carefully removing the plate cover.
I gasped at the meal they had served me.
“For goodness' sake! I don't eat vegetables!” I growled.
The hospital door burst open as Dr. Chris came in with another nurse who wasn't Nurse Elena.
“Doctor,” I said, lowering my head and looking at the meal that sat open before me.
The food was steamy, but it was green vegetables with spicy onions and carrots cooked together like a pepper soup. But it lacked meat, fish, or eggs.
“Mallory Adonis,” Dr. Chris called my full name as his sharp yellow eyes peered at me.
“You are a foreigner here in this pack. You do not expect to be treated like a queen, do you? Irrespective of the fact that you are an Alpha wolf or an Alpha's daughter, I do not care. You should eat up the meal unless you want to starve,” Dr. Chris stated as he strode towards me and stood directly in front of my bed.
I frowned, looking away from his face and peering at the hot soup they had given me.
“I hate vegetables,” I mumbled, and Dr. Chris laughed.
“Well, unfortunately, that is what you will be eating for now, until you are able to work and generate money to take care of yourself. You don't expect yourself to sit down here and feed on another person's labor, do you?” Dr. Chris glared at me, and I swallowed hard.
“No...” I replied quietly, and he smiled.
“Good. Now eat it. It's a medicinal soup to help you heal. Your test result came out, and surprisingly, a young shewolf like you is already pregnant. How was it like? You never said anything about fụcking someone before you came here. Was that why your father banished you? Because he caught you with someone else's mate?”
Dr. Chris looked curious to find out, but I frowned and looked away.
“No. He was my fated mate and not someone else's mate. But they assumed I was an Omega and couldn't lead the pack. So they forced me to reject him, and I passed out. When I woke up, I found myself here, and I don't know how long I had been unconscious.”
