Chapter 2

[Mallory's POV] “Let me go!” I screamed as my stepmother dragged me by my left wrist and pulled me out of my bedroom. I was naked, and yet, she didn’t care. She wanted to report me to my father. “Leave me alone!” I bit her right hand hard. She flinched, released me, and I ran back into my bedroom to get dressed as quickly as possible. “Mallory! Mallory!” She pounded on my door, and I knew she would report me. It was already 1 a.m. I glanced at the door, and once I finished dressing, I went to pull it open. I wore a red dress that fell past my knees. But as I unlocked the door, my father, Alpha Bruce Adonis stood there and smacked me across the face the moment I opened it. “Mallory, what were you doing in your room? Why does this place smell of s*x? Who was he?” Dad stormed inside, marched to my bedsheets, snatched them up, and sniffed them. “Tell me, Mallory! Who did you mate with?” My father barked at me. He stared at me with disappointment. “Dad, I wasn’t mating with anyone,” I lied, lowering my gaze. My father strode up to me, furious, and grabbed my left arm. “Mallory, I promised your mother I would protect you, and yet, you couldn’t wait to find your mate. You foolishly slept with someone. Speak now! If I discover from the camera who you slept with, you both will be banished!” My father threatened, his blue eyes narrowing at me. I didn’t want Ace Lennox banished. He was the pack’s future leader, since my father had no son. Ace possessed great combat skill and fought well. He had defeated packs that tried to destroy ours. I looked away from my father’s face, hesitating to tell him who I had s*x with. “Speak now, or forever remain silent!” My father threatened. He wore a black garment. My stepsister Sonia entered, dressed in a white nightgown that gleamed because she always bought the highest-quality dresses. “Dad, Ace and I did it,” I announced. My father’s eyes widened in shock, before he glared at me. “You’re lying about Ace. Why can’t I detect his scent here? Have you sunk so low that you have to lie about Ace Lennox?” My father barked. I lowered my head. “Dad, Ace came here to meet me,” I told him, and he yelled at me. “Shut up! I’ll ask you one last time. Who did you mate with?” My father demanded, refusing to believe me. “It was Ace Lennox. He was here. He left through the window,” I said. My father went to the window and looked out. “Ace couldn’t fly from this window. We're on the third floor. I see you refuse to tell me who you slept with. You carry no scent. Ace smells of pinewood, and you think I don’t know my pack members’ scents, especially the future leader?” Dad said, anger burning in his voice. Sonia burst into tears. “Mallory is lying, Father. Let’s summon Ace and ask him. She wants to force him to become her mate just because she sees us together,” Sonia said, crying. I stared at her with disbelief. Sonia was taller than me and believed she would become the next Luna, but I was her older sister. “I am not lying. Ace was here, and he slept with me. Maybe he used a scent suppressant,” I said. My stepmother entered the room and smacked me hard across my left cheek. “Shut up, Mallory. I will not stand here and watch you slander the pack’s future leader. Alpha Bruce, Mallory needs punishment, so she can learn her lesson. She knows Sonia is bound to become the future Luna and marry Ace, so she wants to destroy their future together,” Luna Lily stated, staring at my father’s face. “Alpha, if you won’t punish Mallory, allow me. She is worthless and holds no value in this pack,” Luna Lily added. My father stood there in silence. “Guards, take Mallory downstairs. Sonia, summon Ace. He needs to answer Mallory’s accusations before I decide her punishment,” my father stated and walked out of the room, furious. “Father, I’m not lying. Ace and I are true mates! You all have to believe me!” I cried as my stepmother ordered the guards to drag me out of my room. They took me downstairs to the first floor. They forced me to kneel while my father waited for Ace’s arrival. A few minutes later, Ace walked in. He looked as though he had just bathed. His brown hair was wet, and he wore a yellow shirt and black shorts. He towered over everyone. He glanced at me, then at my parents. “Greetings, Alpha. You sent for me,” Ace bowed before my father, who stood at the Alpha’s chair. “Yes, Ace Lennox. I need the truth before I decide your punishment along with my first daughter’s. You know that lying to your Alpha warrants banishment. I hope you understand,” my father spoke, glaring at Ace. “Yes, Alpha,” Ace replied with a bowed head, avoiding my eyes. His parents rushed into the hall to find out what was happening.
