Chapter Eighteen The day before I fly first class with Gerald to San Francisco for my son’s graduation ceremony, Suzy calls. Again. “I don’t have time for this,” I say, rather harshly. “Rosie’s ill.” I regret my tone of voice instantly. None of this is Suzy’s fault. “Do you want me to stay with her while you go to Berkeley?” Suzy asks. We were together for almost four years and breaking the pattern of our familiarity has been difficult.
