MURDER GAME

chapter 2:

I know Dem told me that we will meet at the right side but I want to explore this place by myself and maybe find answers to how or why I am here. Plus I don't need his protection. I'm not a damsel in distress, I can protect myself just fine.

“And I have a gun,” smirk. “I miss holding one.”

I started walking to the left side contradicting Dem's plan.

I can't decide whether I should seek or hide. But I'll just walk around and hide, maybe?

While walking I'm also looking around to find clues about what place this is, but it feels like magic because as I walk past the maze that is made of roses, they bloom as if they are greeting me.

And it's strange because the place doesn't feel right. We are here to kill and also might be killed but the place is like a paradise with white roses symbolizing purity.

“But it got thorns anyway.” I said and then prick my finger to the thorn, it bleeds. “I guess this is real, not just a dream or lucid dream.”

“Are you talking to yourself?”

“f**k!?” I get startled when someone speaks behind me. It's the guy wearing a suit that looks like a secret psycho.

“Are you a seeker? And you're here to kill me?” He just stayed silent so I got confused.

“Gago ba siya” I whispered in my mother’s language. I may look like an American because I inherited all my fathers genes, but I speak Tagalog.

“Hindi ako gago. At di rin kita papatayin.” I was shocked when I heard him speak in Tagalog.

“You should stay alert to your surroundings-” he pointed the gun at me and then he fired “like this.” And I heard a loud crash so I quickly turned around, and there was a lifeless body on the ground scattered with blood from its head.

I smirked “what a nice view” I mumbled but I quickly snapped out of it. I don't want to stain my hands again.

So I started walking again leaving that suit guy behind. Because if he's not going to kill me then I won't either.

“I'm Liam by the way.” he said but I ignored him and continued walking. None of my business, and I don't care.

“Hmm Liam? Is he Irish? His eyes are blue?” I whisper to myself. But who cares.

LIAM’S POV:

“Pftt. Hahaha” I laughed like a psycho, because I am. I laughed as I watched her disappear from my sight.

“Sage, Sage, Sage you're interesting.” I chanted her name like my favorite melody. A dangerous melody.

“You made my heart race. I never felt this before, only when I kill useless people.” I want to know this feeling and also feel it as long as I live.

“I saw those smirk Sage Melody Violi. A smirk just like mine. It's dangerously beautiful.” you're perfect.

I was watching her from a distance the whole time. From the moment she got here and that epic confused and surprised face when she realized that this place is not her house. And those stupid hello kitty pajamas that make her cute.

And I also saw how that guy first approached her. Like a predator to its prey.

But I'm just curious why she looks so confused and surprised when she gets here. Why didn't she know what to do? As if she just got here by mistake.

This game is only for sinners, killers, gamblers, suicidal and people that has many debt, and also for people who finds pleasure in killing someone. This game is like salvation to us. Because if we win we get money, and money is so important, even if I don't need it and if we lose we get to die and be free from the burdens of our mistakes. So it's a win-win situation. But for me I just love seeing people die.

But there's more, there are many more mysteries in this place, and that's also what I want to know.

But Sage. She doesn’t look like one, she's not like us. Instead she looks like an angel, a dangerous one.

“My Melody.”

SAGE’S POV:

I heard many gunshots and loud screaming everywhere I went. This place is massive. I can't find the exit in this stupid maze. It's just like I'm walking in circles.

“Maybe I should just follow my instinct and go right, straight and then left.” I said as I walked in those directions.

“Rosa?” I said. She's hiding in the corner pointing her gun somewhere as if she's waiting for her prey to show.

I walked to her slowly hiding my presence. When I reached her I tapped her back. She quickly pointed her gun at me and fired but thankfully I have quick reflexes. I quickly dodge it.

“Sage?!” She said, surprised. “I'm sorry. Are you alright?”

“I'm fine, no need to worry.” She sighs in relief “By the way, why are you pointing your gun in that direction.”

As I said those words she quickly fixed her position and pointed the gun again in that direction.

“I'm waiting for someone to appear, and kill him.” She said in a cold tone, giving chills in my body. Is this really the Rosa I know? Well we're not friends so I don't know if this is really her. But as her classmate, I saw her as a walking sunshine. Kind and beautiful. That's why I'm surprised that she knows how to hold a gun and also why she's here. I don't even know why I'm here.

“Who?”

“My ex Zek.” Wait Zek Je Ferrer is also here. He's our senior, he's so popular because he's a football player and also handsome, smart and kind. Zek and her are in a relationship for 2 years and they are a perfect match they say, but they broke up. Why? And why is she going to kill him? How did she know how to hold a gun? Did she already kill someone before? f**k I have so many questions.

“Why?” I asked. I can't sit still not knowing the answers.

But she didn't answer so I looked at her but she's looking intently ahead so I looked where she was looking and there I saw Zek walking slowly.

So he's really here.

I look back at Rosa and her eyes turned dark, she's gritting her teeth and she looks really angry and ready to kill.

“Because he cheated on me with my sister, but my sister didn't like it so he forced her and r***d her. She's in the mental hospital right now. She's not in a good state.” She explained.

Now I get where she's coming from. Well that bastard surely will deserve death.

She fixed her position and closed her eyes before firing the gun. And there was Zek, shot in the stomach. He is clutching his stomach to stop the bleeding but it's impossible he's going to die in two minutes now because as I can see he's shot in the liver.

Watching him struggling to stay alive is hilarious. I was brought back to reality when I heard sobbing. I looked at Rosa, she's crying. I don't get why she is crying when she's the one who shot him.

Before I can ask she runs straight to Zek. So I followed.

“Zek? Zek?! Z-ek…” I can hear the panic and worries in her voice as she holds him.

“Ros-a why are you he-re?” Zek still manages to say those words despite his state.

“Yo-u should run and hide. Someone shot me, what if that per-son will shoot you too. Run plea-se.” Rosa just shook her head and hold Zek's stomach to stop the bleeding.

“Rosa run. Plea-se!!” He shouted. I can see the worries in his eyes. I can see that he loves Rosa so much, so why did he cheat?

We heard footsteps approaching. Zek instantly panicked and told Rosa to hide.

“Please love. Run and hide for me. Hmm I'm fine. Now go!” Rosa was hesitant but still obeyed and she ran and turned to the left. I followed her but not far away from Zek I heard speaking. Someone approached Zek, so I quickly turned right and hid to listen.

“You're weak. Joining this game to pay for your twin brother's crime. Ridiculous. This game is not what you think it is. There's more of this, something you don't know. This game is beyond what your brain can think. Cause what if this game is fiction and magic?” The guy said laughing so I quickly came out of my hiding spot to ask that mysterious guy, because he clearly know something about this f*****g game.

But he is nowhere to be seen, only Zek lying helplessly. With a pale body and barely breathing.

“Zek, who was that person, do you know him, or do you know something about this game? Hey, answer me.” I said frustrated. I want to leave this damn place. I still have many text books waiting to be reviewed.

“No I don't, and if I know something, I won't tell you. You should stay here and pay for your sins.” What? How did he know I wanted to leave? Seriously, does my face really have a built-in subtitle?

“Hah! If you're not telling me, I'll just find out. And I have something to tell you— Rosa was the one who shot you.” I can see the surprise and shock on his face. Epic.

I love the face he showed, the sadness because Rosa betrayed and killed him. What a nice view watching someone die with so many unanswered questions.

Now my only problem is where to find that guy. He holds answers to my questions.

And why does Zek know him? Are they pals or something?

“Tanginang yan. I want to go home. My mother's going to kill me if she finds out I didn't study, instead I'm in this stupid place not knowing how or why I'm here!” I said as I stomped the floor because of frustration.

“Talking to yourself again I see, my Melody.”

“f**k!” I was startled when someone speak behind me. I know it's Liam.

“Letting your guard down again.” Liam said.

“Why are you here?” I said without looking at him and started walking to find that mysterious guy who might know something. Screw that! he should know something, or else my efforts of trying to find him are just a waste. So he better have answers to my questions.

“It's just a coincidence. The path I took led me here.” He said. I just nodded because this maze is huge anyway.

I have to find the exit as fast as I can, my feet hurt from walking. I just want to sit down and maybe sleep for a while.

“Huh. I'm tired.” I mumbled

“Do you want me to carry you?” Liam asked. Why is he following me?

“No, I can manage.” I said, then he just hummed. Huh! This is a redflag. He doesn't even protest.

“I GUESS EVERYONE IS HAVING FUN IN THIS GAME.”

The demonic voice appeared again. And who said I'm enjoying this?!

“TO MAKE THIS GAME MORE FUN, WE HAVE A SURPRISE FOR YOU ALL— KILL YOUR MOST BELOVED OR BE KILLED BY THEM.”

And the voice disappeared. What does it mean to kill our most beloved.

“I don't understan-" I didn't finish what I was going to say because he appeared in front of me.

“Ho..w is this possible?” I said as I quickly ran to him and hugged him. I looked up to him, he smiled at me and then patted my head.

“Did you miss me?” he asked.

I nodded. His voice is just like before an angelic voice.

“Why are you here? How did you get here? Can we leave?” I asked, he just smiled at me and pointed a gun on my head.

“Wha..t is the meaning of this?” I asked. No, this is not him, he doesn't know how to hold a gun. He's an angel! What's happening to him?

Before I can process everything I heard a gun shot and the guy in front of me was shot in the head. He smiled at me and mumbled something, and then he disappeared like a smoke.

“What- what was that?” I asked, confused.

“So is he your most beloved ?” Liam said in a cold tone, “He’s fake. He is only an illusion, don't fall for it-” before he can finish explaining, someone ran so fast I almost got hit. Thankfully Liam quickly grabbed me to the side.

“What's happening?” Liam grabbed someone and asked.

“Player 007 is on a rampage killing everyone he set his eyes on. He killed three people already.” The woman explained.

“Why?” I asked

“He's looking for someone named Sage.”

He is looking for me? Why?
