Chapter 14Montie pulled the car up in front of my house. The light in the living room was lit brightly. “It looks like someone’s home,” Montie noted. “It’s probably Allen.” “He lives with you?” I had to laugh. “No, but I know he was worried about me. He’s here waiting for stories.” “You have a lot to tell.” She grinned at me. “I won’t tell everything, not even to Allen.” I turned to her. “Do you want to come in for a cup of coffee or something?” “No. Not before I drive back. If I drank something now, I’d need to stop and pee in the woods along the way.” “Do you want to do a pit-stop here so you won’t have to?” I took a breath. “You know, I’d feel a lot better if you stayed overnight.
