Chapter 24

The gun shot echoes through the air. Rose closed her eyes tight as tears rolled down her face. She was trembling terribly until she felt a hand wrapped around her.

"Shhh..don't cry,it's ok," Rayan said, hugging her.

"T...The...g...gun," she stuttered

"I'm fine,nothing happened to me," he said, and she looked at him.

Immediately, the staff walk in.

"We heard a gun sound. Are you guys ok?" The staff asked

"Yeah, we are fine." Rayan said.

"It looks like someone was hired to kill you, but the person was killed instead," the staff said, and Rayan raised his brows out of confusion.

"The security went to check the scene, and we only saw the gun man laying down lifeless. The person that shot had already gone," the staff explained.

"So that means the gun sound came from the other person," Rose asked, and the staff nodded.

"We are sorry for the inconvenience." The staff apologise.

"It's ok," Rayan said, taking out his phone. His dad was calling.

"Dad..."

"Rayan, are you ok?" Mr Anderson asked anxiously.

"Uhmm y....yeah, dad. I'm fine, " he said, trying not to sound awkward.

"Are you sure?"

"Yes, dad,"

"Ok," Mr Anderson said and ended the call.

"Handle this issue carefully. The media shouldn't hear about this," Rayan said to the staff.

"And please don't involve the police," he added.

"But why, your life is clearly at risk," Rose said.

"I know my reasons. Do what I said and don't let the police and media get involved, " he said, and the staff nodded,

"This place is not safe. Let's go, " he said, and they left.

The drive back home was silent. None of them said anything, Rayan dropped Rose right in front of her house.

"I'm sorry our date got ruined. I promise to make it up to you, " he said, and she nodded.

"Good night," she said, and he nodded and drove away.

"What are you hiding from me, Rayan?" She thought to herself.

Mr Anderson and Dante sat in a private room in the office.

"You see what I was talking about. What if my men weren't there. Your son would have been dead by now. " Dante said.

"This is all your fault. You brought this upon the family. "

"Then let me make things right. I promise I'm not going to let anything happen to my grandson, " Dante said, and his son looked at him.

"I'm in," Mr Anderson said, and Dante looked at him.

"This is about my son,you can't stop me from interfering. They wanna play dirty, then we are all in, " Mr Anderson said, and Dante smirck.

"It's been years. Do you still have the capacity?" he asked, and his son nodded.

"Don't forget, I was the strongest man in the gang before I cut away,"

"I know, anyway, welcome back, son," Dante said and smiled.

Marcus paced back and forth in the room angrily.

"Who the hell give him orders. Look how he has spoiled my entire plan, " he said angrily.

"What do we do, sir?" his guards asked.

"I'm sure the old hag has team up with his son already. Things are going to be tough from now on. Increased the men at our borders. We have to change the plan "

"Yes, sir," the guard nodded.

"And also increase the security watching over Melvin. I'm sure Dante will try to harm him."

"But he's strong, sir. He can save himself. "

"That was when Will was not involved. That bastard is madly strong. I can't risk anything right now, " he said, and the guard nodded.

"Sir,there's something I want to show you," the guard said, bringing out some photos.

"What's this?" Marcus frown.

"This is the guy, Melvin had been seen around constantly. They are pretty close, " the guard said as Marcus stared at the picture.

"Who is he?" He asked.

"He's the governor son," the guard replied, and Marcus smirck.

"I will deal with him later, as for now. Just do as I say, " he said, and the guard nodded and left.

Marcus picked up his phone and called Melvin, but there was no response.

"The governor son, uhm not bad," he thought to himself and smiled.

Rayan didn't go home after he left Rose place. Instead, he met up with Titus and the armed men. He already explained everything to Titus before his arrival.

"So what do we do now?" Titus asked.

"I want you all to investigate what happened today." Rayan said to the men, and they all nodded.

"Hey," he called out to one of them,

"What's your name?" he asked the guy.

"Tim, boss," the guy said, and Rayan nodded.

"Tim,how old are you?" he asked.

"20, sir" Time siad.

"You will be the leader for the squad when we are not around," he said, and Tim eyes widened,

"Don't you think he's too small to lead them?" Titus wispered to Rayan.

"He's capable," Rayan said and went in his car and brought a check of 5 million and give it to Tim.

"Use this money, find a good place where all of you will live together and be able to train as well. You can use it to buy enough weapons and food stuffs" he said, and Tim nodded.

"Do you have a phone?" he asked, and Tim nodded.

"Give me it," he said and took Tim phone and put his number there.

"You are the only one allowed to call me," he said, and Tim nodded.

"If you guys need anything, report to him first, then he will report to me," he said to the others.

"Yes, boss," they chorus together.

"I'm entrusting them unto you. Don't disappoint me, " he said, and Tim nodded.

"I guess everything is set for now. Wait for my others before you can do anything. Tim, don't forget to investigate what happened today. If you get anything, report to me immediately, " he said.

"Yes, boss," Tim said.

"That's all for now. When you find a place, I will buy enough vehicles for us to use, " he said, and they erupted with cheers.

"I can see that you are more than ready to take them on." Titus smiled.

"Thye shouldn't have mess with me," he said.

"What about Angelica. What are you going to do about her"

"I will let the police handle her. They are already in search of her. But as for now, we got a bigger problem, "he said, and Titus nodded in agreement.

The school prom was slowly approaching, and all the students were discussing it.

"Rose, don't you think that you and Rayan should participate in the upcoming prom, King and Queen?" Anna said, and Rose looked at her.

"What if he doesn't want to?" Rose asked.

"Oh, common, why won't he?" Anna hissed.

"I will tell him about it," she said, and Anna looked at her.

"Are you ok?" Anna asked.

"I don't know. Uhm, it's Rayan. He seems to be going through a lot,but he's not willing to share it with me, " she said.

"Maybe he's waiting for the right time. I'm sure when he's ready, he will tell you, " Anna said.

"I hope so," Rose muttered.

Rayan walked out of the class, and he met Marissa waiting for him.

"You look so excited," he said, and she chuckled.

"I prepare something sweet for you," she said and brought out cake bread.

"Wow, you prepare this," he asked, taking a bite of the cake bread.

"Yeah. You always buy me lunch,"she said, and he smiled.

"You're so sweet," he said, touching her cheeks.

"So how is it,is it sweet?" she asked, and he looked at her.

"What? Is it not ok? " she frown.

"When did I say that. The cake is sweet, " he said, and she chuckled.

"Come on, let's go, I'm hungry," she said as they walked through the corridor holding hands.

Marissa immediately stopped on her tracks when her eyes met with him.

"What's going on here?" Eric asked, and Rayan frowned.

"What is your concern. Learn to mind your business. " He said, and Eric frown.

"Why the hell are you doing with my f*****g sister, and you are telling me that it's none my business " Eric snapped.

"Hey, chill," Melvin said.

Rayan looked at Eric, and then he looked at Marissa.

"He's your brother," he asked.

"My cousin actually," she laughed awkwardly, and Melvin couldn't help but chuckled.

"What's wrong?" Marissa asked when she noticed the way they were glaring at each other

"They are enemies " Melvin siad.
