Chapter 29

Alina Pov: I woke up to an unfamiliar environment and a small pain in my throat, as well as a bit of dizziness. My eyes slowly opened to meet with bright lights. I closed them almost immediately, my eyes hurting from the brightness of the light. A few moments later, I heard a faint open and close of a door, making me open my eyes once again, but this time a little slower to avoid the bluntness of the light. When I did open them, I saw the back of a person with a white jacket on facing me. Suddenly she turned, giving me access to the side of her face. ”Who-“ I stopped speaking the moment I felt the unfamiliar and foreign feeling that passed through my throat. It felt dry and cracked and my breathing was erratic. The lady then looked at me, and give a faint smile. “Hello, Miss Maddox. I am Emerald Grey, the nurse.” Just then, the door opened again, revealing a man who seemed to slightly be in his late 30’s. ”And this…is your other doctor, Mr. Craig Donovan.“ She told me. I slowly nodded in realization. “What…why though?” ”You almost drowned, so you were brought here by Mr. Turner and I. You were blacked out for about a day, and your pulse was weak. How are you feeling?” The doctor asked me. Suddenly everything came flooding back to me. The phone call with my mom, the plan, the pool. All of it. I sighed slowly, because of my difficulty of breathing. “I…I feel, a little d-dizzy...and m-my th-throat hurts a l-little.” I spoke. The doctor and nurse both nodded. “Those are normal after you’re incident. You might feel a little dizziness, we can give you so medicine for that if you’d like. I will also get you some water to help with your throat.” I gave a meek thanks and stared into oblivion, as I started to drift off into my thoughts. Mr. Turner….was all I could think about. Mr. Turner? Mr…Tristan Turner! He was the one who brought me here? But why? ”If I m-may ask, w-why did T-Tristan bring m-me here?” I asked the doctor. ”He was the one who found you in the pool and brought you out. We needed to get you to the hospital to help save you. I…..we couldn’t do anything to help you back at the mansion, you’re pulse was very weak, Miss, Maddox.” He replied. ”O-oh….” I muttered as realization came to me. He was the one who took me out of the pool. The events that took place after my hallucinations started was faintly blurred, but I did have a slight memory of Tristan holding me. ”B-but he didn’t save me…” I once again muttered under my breath. The doctor didn’t seem to hear or either decided to ignore it, because he went on to write something down, which I believe to be something related to me. My mind went into a frenzy as I recalled every horrific moment that happened in my life, up until now. My breathing got more slower and it was already difficult as I knew there was something attached to me, helping me breathe. I didn’t know when I started screaming and kicking, until Mr. Donovan came running to me, while Ms. Emerald ran to me with a cup of water and some type of medicine. ”Miss. Miller?! Are you alright?” Ms. Emerald exclaimed, terror and worry written in her face. I paid her question no heed, as I was still in the middle of having a moment, where I felt only anger and pain, not knowing how to control myself. Both doctors tried their hardest to calm me down, and eventually, they got me to calm down and gave me my medicine and water. I took it and drank the entire cup of water down, my throat felt dry and cracked. “Here, let me get you another.” Ms. Emerald said, before walking out of the ward to go get me another cup of water. ”Maybe you should rest a little more, you need all the rest you can get…” Mr. Donovan said, but I shook my head. ”No…no I d-don’t need anything, but to be left alone.” I told him and he nodded. ”Are-“ I cut him off, already knkwing he was trying to change my mind. “Please, just give me some space. I...it feels too crowded, I need you to leave me alone.“ I told him. He nodded again. “Yes, Miss Miller. I will be back in around thirty minutes to check on you.“ Mr. Donovan spoke and left me the room. I sighed, completely in distress. Why did he bring me here, though? It still doesn’t make sense to me when he was hellbent on breaking me. Some time had passed with me trying to figure out what was going through his head to do such a thing, when I heard the door open. I looked towards the door, ready to recieve a cup of water or tell the person to leave, but all of it flew out the window when I saw who stood there. “Wha-what are y-you d-doing he-here.” I shrieked a little angry, my voice coming out almost in a whisper. “I…” He cleared hjs throt and scratched the back of hks head, before continuing. “I just came to see how you were doing, I guess.” He came to see how I was doing? I’m sure anyone who heard the words that fell from his tongue knows how much a load of bullshit it is. Who even says that to someone, knowing damn well he didn’t feel the same way before I almost drowned, so why now? ”Well you don’t need to, I’m okay…” Her eyes were downcast as she spoke. ”Look…I-” I already knew he was about to apologize to me, which I didn’t want from him. ”Don’t! Stop trying to be nice to me, when you know that you hate me. This is all your fault. You’re the reason I’m here…” ”And I’m sorry for that…” He said, knowing that is a lie. ”No, you‘re not sorry about a damn thing! You’re an arrogant, self centered cocky and ruthless asshole jerk who doesn’t care about anything but himself and success.“ ”If it weren’t for me, you would be dead. I saved you, and you call me selfish? Is that the respect and thanks I receive back from you?” He asked. I scoffed. “You claim that you…” I pointed at him angrily. “Saved me?“ He nodded in a yes, but I shook my head in disagreement. Everything that he just said is bullshit. None of it's real, because if it was, he wouldn't have done want he did. ”You’ve done no such thing!” I seethed. ”I did save you, though. You just don’t want to admit that.” He said back. ”It’s not about admitting anything, Tristan. There’s nothing to admit. I know the truth and so do you. You did not save me, and you wanna know why you couldn’t have? It’s because you were the one who hurt me? You are the reason I’m here right now…so you did not save me!” If there was anything I needed saving from, it would be him. No one in my entire life has hurt me more than he has. Not even the boy I claimed to love who broke me. I didn't love him at all, he didn't break my heart, but he took everything away from me that I ever loved. He showed me the worst and gave me pure misery. I need saving from him, not to be saved by him. “You couldn’t have saved me, because the saving I need is from you.” I told him, tears falling from my eyes. He sighed and turned his head away from me. For some time, he just stood there in complete silence, while I tried my best to hide the hurt I was feeling. "After you're discharged, my driver will come get you and bring you back to the mansion." He said with no emotion and turned to walk away, but I stopped him. "No, I will not go back there. I'm not comfortable at that mansion or anywhere with you. Please just let me go back to my home." I pleaded, my voice hoarse from the crying. He turned and looked back to me with no emotions on his face. I didn't know what he was feeling or thinking, because his face gave nothing away. "No, I will not. The moment you stepped foot inside that mansion, it became your home. Therefore, you will go back there. No arguments about it, end of discussion." The moment the door clicked shut, informing me of his absence, I let all of my tears build up and pour out. "I....c-cant do t-this..." I said to myself through my sobs. "Why!" I yelled out. "Why am I so unlucky? Why does god punish me in the worst ways! I- this is so unfair! I hate him....I h-hate..." My tears continued to cascade down my face, my vision getting blurry. The sound of the door clicking open, snapped me out my reverie or whatever. I hid my face with my hands and sniffled over and over again. "Miss..." I heard the familiar voice of Ms. Emerald. "Pl-please go a-away..." I struggled to get my words out as a new batch of tears threatened to fall any moment. "I....Here's your water, Miss Miller. I'll be right outside if you need me or anything...so is Mr. Donovan."  She told me, sitting the cup of water down on the stand near the bed. I didn't have the strength to respond, fearful that if I said anything, I wouldn't be able to control all these emotions that are flowing inside me, so I just nodded in response. Her presence lingered in the room for a moment, before she walked out of the ward, leaving me completely alone to fight with my controlling emotions. ********************** I didn't realize I fell asleep until I woke up to the sound of the soft click of the door opening. My head shut up, leaving me with a slight pain in my neck, but I ignored it. "Miss. Miller?" Mr. Donovan called. I looked up with a questionable look on my face as I replied. "Yes?" "How are you feeling?" He asked and I took my time to respond. How am I feeling? In physical term, I was perfectly fine. My mental state, was another story though. I mentally felt like a bag of s**t, unexplainable emotions swirled through my body like a storm. I wasn't gonna tell him that though. It wasn't like he could fix me mentally, even if he were to try. "I feel great," I mumbled out which he nodded to. "Based on the tests I ran, your blood pressure is extremely high, which can put you in serious heath conditions. I advise you not to stress a lot, there are many risks you can get from stress, Miss. Miller. Other than that, your health is fine. You're good enough to be discharged." I slowly nodded. If only he knew it wasn't that easy to just stop stressing, when you live with a ruthless, heartless and merciless man like Tristan. Every single second is spent stressing over what would happen next. "Mr. Turner has sent a driver to pick you up. He is actually waiting outside." He informed. Realization hit me, causing me to shake my head furiously. "I'm not going back there..." Mr. Donovan looked down. "I'm sorry Miss, but you have no other choice but to do so. I was given strict instruction to have you brought back via Mr. Turner's driver." "I don't care about his strict instructions. I'm not going back, I refuse. You cannot make me." I gritted out, still shaking my head. "I am sorry, but you have to. It was an order made by boss, which should always be carried out and completed." He said, his voice a little shaky. "Well your boss is a bunch of s**t, I don't care what he said. I refuse! I am not leaving with his human booksacks or going back to that mansion!" "Please just listen and follow me down. It is not my choice, but I cannot let you go against his will." I sighed, tugging my hair out of frustration. "If this is what you came for, please get out and leave me alone." "Miss...Yo-" I cut him off before he could finish. "No, stop trying to get me to go back to my own hell, because I will not. You're wasting your time, just leave." I choked out, tears gathering behind my eyes once again. It was like no matter where I went, I could never get peace. Everyone was ready to throw me back to the devil who calls himself Tristan. "I apologize for upsetting you, I will go now and give you some space. The driver will come to escort you, I am sorry again, but Sir ordered us. I cannot defy that, and you cannot either. Don't stress yourself, it's not good for your health. Goodbye now, Miss Miller." He said before leaving. I frustratingly groaned and shut my eyes closed to avoid the tears, but it did nothing to stop them. "I feel like a small animal in a lions den. Can't someone just give me a break, I am so tired. S-so tired of feeling like a captive. When do I get my freedom back?" My voice started quiver as the tears slowly poured down my face. Disappointed of who I am. Ashamed of what my life has become. Terrored by my fate and what's still to come. Horrified by this entire predicament. Just like Mr. Donovan said, the driver and some other guy I assumed to be a guard who worked for Tristan, both came up to my ward. A frown settled on my face as I saw them coming towards me. I attempted to fight with them, which was no use. One slap was all I got in before they took me out and brought me towards the sleek black car. I gave them an ugly death glare, a hidden threat behind it, which they ignored completely as I was sat down in the seat. The guard buckled me up and shut the door closed. I went to open the door, but it was on child safety lock. "I hate my life...." I mumbled repeatedly as the car got closer towards my own designated hell. ****************** Less than 15 minutes, we arrived at the one and only mansion which I now hate the most. How can something so beautiful be misery for one. When I first arrived, everything about this place was mesmerizing. Still is at some extent, but now I feel like it's a cell for me. It's so huge but feels so small around me. I feel like I've been held captive, because there's not much freedom. How can I live here and be fine? Simple. I can't. This place was owned by a devil which I hate with all my being. Like they all say....looks can definitely be deceiving. The moment he opened the door for me to get out of the car, I took that to my advantage and attempted to run far away from this place as possible. Well, I only got a few steps in, when a strong grip pulled me back and escorted me into that mansion. There really is no escape, in my opinion. So many doors to open, but every time you do, there's always something blocking your escape. The freedom you begged for and wished you still had. I felt exactly like that at this moment. There was no one to help me and no where to go run and hide. I was dropped in the same room which suffocated me and left me to fight alone with all my demons. The door clicked shut and I didn't even try to open it, knowing surely well it was locked from the outside. Again. No where to go and escape hell. Giving up, I threw myself onto the bed and looked up at the ceiling, my body feeling numb from reality. I wished that maybe, just maybe if I accepted this life and let all my demons pull me in, then I'll finally be numb and free from everything around me and all these feelings inside me. Letting this thought take over my mind and body, I felt the distress leave my body and replaced with numbness. Slowly I closed my eyes and drifted to the only place there is for me, now. Darkness.
