Alina Pov:
Never would I have thought that a little girl would be here. Then something in my head snapped.
Who was this little girl and why was she here?
"Hi there!" I waved nervously at her. Her head snapped slightly sideways. "I'm Alina, what's your name?" I asked her in the calmest tone I could speak into. Hopefully she doesn't notice my awkwardness towards seeing her.
"Amberleigh, but you can call me Amber..." The little girl responded in the sweetest voice I've heard.
"What a beautiful name you have Amber," My lips turned upward into a huge smile.
"Thanks, you too Aleana." She returned the smile, showing her beautiful baby teeth.
I ignored the mispronunciation of my name, she was a kid so it was perfectly normal. She was such a cutie, her fluffy rosy cheeks that had small but deep dimples engraved into them.
"It's nice to meet you....do you live here?" I couldn't help but ask her, curiosity killing my senses.
"To you too, and yes..I live here." She said with no nervousness at all. She seemed so comfortable and calm around me that it was shocking.
Most kids would probably be scared to talk to strangers. Amber was not though, and it was really surprising. It made me adore her even more.
I recalled her words that she spoke, and I got shocked with the information she revealed. She lives here? I knew I shouldn't stick my nose in others' business, but I was intrigued to know more about the little girl.
"With whom do you live with?" My brows raised with interest.
"I live with my mom and brother..." She replied casually, pointing at something in the distance.
As she was pointing, she seemed to be trying to show me something. I twisted my head in the direction her finger was pointing towards.
When I turned my head, I saw a garden-like area. There is a pathway that leads towards a transparent door. Around it was plants and flowers neatly placed in different spaces. Another water fountain and statue of a couple was placed exquisitely in the middle of the garden.
The little girl's eyes glinted, along with mines at the beautiful sight of the area. She continued pointing, and something caught my attention.
There was a bench placed beside the door and statue, but what caught my attention was the figure that sat on it. I squinted my eyes a little harder and noticed a small body that belonged to a little boy.
He had wavy jet black hair that fell a little on his face as his head was down, occupied by a device in his hand. The little boy looked a little younger than the girl beside me. I couldn't see the rest of his face, because he was facing downwards.
"That's my little brother, Preston." Amber's face lit up looking at her little brother, showing the adoration she had for him. She seemed like a great big sister.
"How old is he?" I asked.
"He's turning five this year...I'm fourteen months older than him." She replied. I could see how she enthusiated the age gap between her and her brother.
"Oh, that's nice..." I didn't know what else to say besides this.
I wondered who their parents were and if they lived here too. I was sure this was Tristan's mansion, so it was a shocking experience to see kids here.
Then another thought popped into my head.
'If this is Tristan's mansion and these kids live here, what does that mean?' I shouldn't want to know, but I did for some reason.
Amber told me she lived with her mother here, so I decided to ask about her. "Who's your mom?" There was something that I couldn't quite put my finger on.
"Ashely" The girl beamed as she said her mother's name.
Somewhere in my head, the name seemed familiar. I was sure I met someone here named Ashely, but I could barely remember her since I only saw her once or twice.
There were so many questions I had, but I knew that it had nothing to do with me. For my own good, I should just mind my business.
I was in my thoughts when I got pulled out by seeing a shadow of someone close by. I turned my head and saw the little boy walking towards us. His face wore an expression that showed his confusion.
As he got closer, I noticed differences between him and Amber. Their faces were similar in a way. Both of them had the same color eyes and dimples, but their hair color and texture wasn't anything close to another.
Another question erupted in my head. Did they honestly have the same parents, because besides from the few similarities that they shared, they looked fairly different.
Once Preston was just a few inches away, he stood on side his sister and quietly eyed me. I knew he had to be wondering who I was.
"Pressy, say hello to Aleana. She is nice." Amber said to her little brother happily.
He hesitated for a while, scared maybe? Him and his sister were polar opposites. She had no problem talking to someone she just met, but he was totally not. That or either he was anti-social.
"Hello," I heard out of nowhere. I looked down at the boy, and it was his voice. He had a soft baby voice that could melt anyone. How adorable!
"Hello little one," My smile redirected to him and I gave him a short wave.
That was the last I heard of him though, because just as fast as he came towards us, he walked back to the bench with his ipad in hand.
If I was thinking straight, the little boy looked a little like Tristan. I wonder if that asshole had kids? The thought lingered in my head, but that was foolish....had to be. Someone like him couldn't possibly be capable of being a father.
I kept my eyes on the boy who was already seated on the bench, watching something on the device. "Do you want to play?" Amber spoke, and I looked back at her.
"Sure" She grabbed my hand and pulled me towards the garden.
********
Me and Amber talked about simple things, but I was yet to start asking questions again. Honestly, I didn't need to know that information. I guess I was just curious...
She showed me around the area and insisted I play with her. I didn't mind though, she was too cute to turn down. We played hand games and I asked her math questions. If anyone was to ask me why, I didn't have a clue. The best thing I could come up with was that I simply didn't know what to say after we ran out of things to do.
When it got late, I walked back into the mansion. I had no idea where they went after I left them. I tried my best to remember all the steps I took to get there, so I could find my way back. Trying to figure it out, I totally forgot and ended up getting lost.
I didn't ask for help, instead I kept walking and taking random turns, hoping it was the way to where I came from. After a while, I found my way back to my starting point.
I walked and walked until I ended up back in the hallway that led to the bedroom I was staying in. When I came in front of the door, everything else was forgotten.
There was no amount of words in my being to explain how relieved I was to not end up staying lost. That would be a worser nightmare that I didn't want to encounter. I went to the bathroom and took a long hot shower.
My feet were aching from all the walking around I did, but the water in the shower soothed the pain in them. I found some shampoo and washed my hair. I massaged my scalp and closed my eyes to enjoy the feeling.
I didn't know how long I stayed in the shower, but I got out once I felt the water turning cold on my body. I stepped out and covered my body with a clean towel I saw hanging on the rack.
The clothes I wore today were not actually dirty, so I decided to just put it back on when I couldn't find any other comfortable outfit to wear.
I pulled my damp hair off my face and tied it back into a high ponytail. Sitting on the bed for a while, I stared at the night sky until I felt my stomach rumble.
Somehow, I felt completely famished. Maybe it was the journey I had trying to find my way back to the part of the mansion I was used to seeing?
My feet weren't hurting that bad, but I could still feel the small ache in them. I didn't go to the kitchen, instead I called one of the maids in my room.
Minutes later, I was served dinner in the room I stayed in. The food looked delicious, and I didn't wait a second before I devoured my plate. I ate everything on the tray, and my stomach was finally satisfied.
The same friendly woman who served me the food, came back to retrieve the tray. When the lady left, I clicked the light off and laid in the bed.
Darkness filled the room and I listened to the sound of the wind outside while covered comfortably in the duvet. The wind filled my ears, giving my inner self peace.
The night hours passed effortlessly, and I drifted off into a nice slumber at some point between the early morning where I couldn't hear a thing anymore.
I know this chapter was a little short and probably a little irrelevant, but later on the events in this chapter will be an important factor for Tristan and Alina.
As the story continues on, everything will get more exciting but till then....just stick around for a little while more......
