Chapter Ten

1151 Words
Lucia's POV My eyes are blindfolded; I'm in the back of a moving van. I had just left the Midnight Claim Auction building where I'd spent a night with Giovanni Luigi. Shivers sent a quiver down my spine. I flinched immediately; I didn't want to think about the hell I went through last night. I couldn't think about it; the pain was like a physical entity of its own. It coated my body in bruises and cuts. Remembering what had happened, even though the pain it had caused me was the worst thing I had ever been through, just the feeling itself was causing me a new surge of dread and fear to fill and overcome me. Damien's men came for me early this morning. They came to collect me the second Giovanni had finished with my body and left the room. Now, I'm in a moving van with blindfolds on, and traveling to where I don't know. Pain filled my whole body, my muscles aching, my legs and wrists both being chained with chains were cold and they dug into the open wounds that had been made all over my body. It was freezing, and the only clothing I had on was an oversized t-shirt and one that was ripped, with nothing underneath. I'm so exhausted, tired, and I'm struggling to keep my eyes from dozing off even being blindfolded. The van slowed, and then it suddenly stopped, and the van gave my body a jerky motion. I flinched as the door swung open, and I jumped as a hand reached out to grab me. “Please don't touch me,” I whispered. I had no control over the way my body flinched just by the presence of another body near me. Nobody responded, but at least they respected not to touch me, and the chain on my wrist was pulled to make me get out and walk after them. The blindfolds were lifted, and my eyes instantly shot open; the bright light from the sun blared down at my face and almost burned its way to the back of my head. The world had come into view after being subjected to total darkness. I froze, then slowly blinked again. In front of me stood an impossibly tall, huge white coloured building. The building, with a white brick facade, had been painted and built into the house, creating enormous stone walls. The doors were a large white oak set with two huge marble columns flanking both sides to lead through a marble pathway, and in front of the walkway, stone steps went several feet to enter the house. It was beautiful, regal, and perfect, and I was yanked forward “Move” My bare feet scraped against the cold stone as I struggled to keep up. I turned my head, trying to take one last look at the outside world, but I didn't get the chance. The door opened, and I was dragged inside. I followed the men into the mansion. They pulled me through the massive white walls and into the dining room. Damien was there; also present was the man who grabbed Damien when his hands were around my neck, almost killing me back in the auction. As I entered, I searched the room for Damien, my gaze landing on him immediately. He was not looking at me, yet I couldn't seem to tear my gaze from him. As predicted, his love for white hadn't wavered. He was wearing white joggers and a white hoodie. While he was no longer the soft man he used to be, one thing about him hadn't even altered: his adoration of the color white. The mansion was covered in the color white, too clean, bright, and gorgeous, almost like the man Damien used to be. He lowered his knife and fork and then glanced at me; my eyes landed on his as they narrowed. He dismissed the men who had led me there, then left the dining room, and soon only Damien, the man next to him, and I remained. Damien's muscles tightened, and I tensed up; his every move towards me caused my heart to race, and then he raised his hand, and I flinched. My entire body started trembling violently. Closing my eyes, I threw my whole body into defense. My mind couldn't tell it to stop; every jolt caused my body to flinch. I then opened my eyes slightly. Damien's hand was still hovering above me; he stared into my eyes, and then some unreadable emotion crossed his face. He lowered his hand slowly, then turned towards the man next to him and spoke something in Italian to him that I couldn't quite catch. I stood frozen to the spot, and then Damien turned and began to walk away, and just like that he was no longer in the room. I was salivating, looking at the food. My stomach rumbled very loudly. I was hungry, so hungry that I forgot that I wasn't alone in the room at this present moment. “Come on, Lucia, I am going to take you to your room.” I reluctantly tore my eyes from the food, and the man walked as I followed him. I tried to keep up with his strides since he was tall and had to walk in long steps through the mansion. Then a large door opened; behind the door there was darkness, a staircase that was going down. A shiver went through me; I stopped, but the man kept walking. I swallowed and was forced to follow him. I descended the stairs with the man in front of me. Down, down and down, till we reached a basement. The man opened another door. “This is where you are going to stay until Damien decides your fate.” He said to me, his voice devoid of emotion. I nodded slowly and went into the room. The door slammed behind me. I could instantly feel the locks clicking, then chains. I looked around the small room: a bed, a thin blanket, a toilet, a small basin, toothpaste, and that was it. The walls had no color on them. I walked towards the bed, and I felt like my whole body was so tired. My whole body ached; I sat down and pulled the blanket over my body. I was grateful that there was a blanket, something to at least keep me warm temporarily. My eyes lowered to a deep cut on my wrist. I touched it and a shock of pain shot through my hand. I hissed, then I stared at the deep cut. “Fifteen days, Lucia.” I could still hear his voice in my head. I only had fifteen days until my freedom was granted. I slowly lay down; the exhaustion consuming my body was too strong to fight. And slowly I drifted into sleep.
