THE DECEIT

Lucy got to the clubhouse. “Hey girls how y’all doing?” She said, smiling at the ladies she saw.

“Welcome back mama!” They shouted. “Yeah thanks…where’s sassy?” She muttered as she entered the locker room.

“Oh goodness…I’m back now!” She shouted, falling on top her bed

Suddenly, a voice startled her

“Lucy?” The man shouted. Immediately she turned around and saw him.

“Ethan!!…oh my goodness!” She screamed as she rushed to give him a tight hug.

They stood there for a while, holding each other so tight as they sobbed quietly.

“Look at you…when did you come back?…..why are you looking so tartared…you look so malnourished ... .are you okay?” She kept asking as she looked so worried.

“It’s okay my love…calm down, I’ll explain everything let’s sit first.” He said softly, gesturing to her to sit on the bed.

“It’s a long story my dear!” He exclaimed. “Can you talk to me please…what happened?” She asked curiously.

“Alright, remember I told you I was going to see Jack; he told me he has a business deal for me.”

“I know I lied to you that I just wanted to spend some time with him, it was his idea because he knew you wouldn’t want me to go if I had told you the truth.” He paused.

“He promised to give me a 100 million to support my business if I can do it for him.”

“The deal was to deliver a package to Piper in Germany and he instructed me not to open the package, he even told me that it’s just a piece of metal in it.”

“All I just need is to deliver it to Piper and I’ll get my money. He arranged everything I needed to travel; my visa, flight ticket and everything was prepared.”

“So I stayed with him for a week before I traveled to deliver the package unknown to me, it was cocaine that was inside the package.”

“Oh God!!…what the hell!!” Lucy screamed. “How could he do that to you!” She shouted in anger.

“I got to the airport and I was inspected before I entered the plane, there was no problem.”

“But the moment I landed, that’s when the trouble of my life began.”

“The inspection machine indicated that there was something in my bag, I told that it was just a package I needed to deliver to my friend.”

“But they insisted that I open the package, I wasn’t scared because Jack already told me it was just a piece of metal in there.”

“But to my disappointment, I found out that it was cocaine worth 3kg I had been carrying all along.”

“Immediately, I was arrested. I pleaded with them to let me talk to Jack.”

“At first, they declined but later I was permitted. I gave them Jack's number and they called him.”

“Immediately they told him I was arrested, he denied ever knowing me, I couldn’t call you because I didn’t want to get you into trouble with me.” Ethan said, shedding tears profusely.

“To cut the story short, Piper came to visit me at the prison. He bribed one of the officers there so he was allowed.”

“He explained to me that Jack was owing him and he doesn’t want to pay, he secretly used me in exchange.”

“Luckily for me, he told me he was going to help me because I’m useless to him.”

“But on a condition that I tell him Jack's whereabouts I was accompanied here by his goons.”

“He helped me escape…that’s why I’m here now.” He said sadly.

“It’s okay my love…I’m sorry you had to go through all these just because you trusted that bastard.”

“You’re fine now…promise me no more hiding of secrets henceforth!” She asked, holding his hands.

“I promise!” He answered, pulling her in for a hug before finally kissing her deeply.

Susan was in her office checking some documents, suddenly her phone ranged; it was Steve calling.

“Why is he calling me…it’s food or talk about lunch.” She muttered, picking the call.

“Hello Steve.” She said, “Hello sweetheart!” He said.

“Why did you call me by my first name?…what happened to the sweet names you call me?” Steve said softly.

“Baby,honey, my heartbeat….?” He added.

“Uh, I…I wasn’t expecting you to call me.” She stuttered.

“Yeah, babe I know we’ve…we’ve been going through a lot..and it’s really draining me.”

“Especially with this real estate business I’ve embarked on… babe I’m losing my mind.” He said sadly.

“I’m almost depressed…I’m stressed out…babe this thing is really draining me…I need you…I just don’t know what to do!” He cried out in frustration.

“Baby calm down okay?…you need to take things easy, Don’t be too hard on yourself.” She said softly.

“I’m here for you…we’re here for each other, that's why we’re married and that’s what I’ve been trying to do!” She added.

“Babe…Chris has threatened to pull out if I don’t come up with my side of the investment, it’s 20million we need to balance.”

“I’m trying to see what I can do to raise the money, you know I’m trying babe!” He said.

“If I can get that money babe…I promise I’ll pay back once I start selling pls babe, I really need this.” He added.

“Calm down…just calm down…it’s just 20 million right?, I’ll get it for you before the end of today.” Susan said.

“Omg…babe I love you so much, thank you babe, you’re the best!!!” Steve shouted.

“Yes!!! That was so easy bro!” He shouted, throwing a punch in the air.

“Now I don’t need that bastard anymore to invest in my contract…infact I don’t need to stress myself, all I have to do is to make a phone call to my wife and cajole her then I get it!!!!” He shouted happily.

Quickly, he made a phone call to his friend. “Hey bro, how are you?” He asked, smiling.

“I'm good guy…what’s up, you sound so excited this morning!” Dr Martins replied.

“Yeah…are you free, let’s hang out?” Steve asked.
