One American is Down
The truck transporting Jakub and Boyd to the target also had six armed Polish soldiers strapped in the back. There was just enough room for Jakub and Boyd to sit with the driver in front. The driver had a portable radio that he turned up the volume on so everyone could hear. At first, there was silence, then ten minutes into the drive, the radio crackled. Voices, mixed with the sounds of shots fired, were followed by an explosion. The driver floored the gas pedal, and the truck hurtled down the heavily potholed road at high speed. Only the seatbelts prevented the crew from being tossed out.
