Abigail's Pov,
"Abby, can I have a word with you? He requested as we walked out of the car. Turning to Audrey, who held my hands, I said, "Wait in the palour," and then stopped to talk with him.
"I just wanted to say.... thank you for accompanying me to see my mother, also for not mentioning.... what happened between us," he said.
Well, you don't have to thank me because we whores don't snitch on our clients. Besides, why would I want to mention a meaningless one night stand?
"About that, I never said that you were a "W." At least, that's not the message I intended to portray," he justified.
That's fine, gratitude acknowledged! I responded.
Now, if you'd excuse me, I have to get to what you're paying me to do, "Sir," I said and left.
"That's not the message I intended to portray," I said, mimicking his voice.
"It's time to tuck you in," I said to Audrey, putting away her notepad.
But Mom, I'm not done with my message for Dad. Besides, I am too old for that, she protested.
Umm, are you now? Why then do you come looking for every night before going to bed. I said, tickling her.
I felt a wave of relaxation sweep over me as her guffawing echoes through my ears.
"Mom, did you take a keen look at Mr Watson's mother?
She looks fine, and there's a possibility that she doesn't have that disease, and neither is she as sick as her doctors are making it out to be," she stated.
Young lady, I don't have time for you and your observations right now. Mr Watson said to see him after here. Therefore, just bow your head, and let's pray.
"What for? Are you two planning another sleepover? I hope it won't affect our trip like the last one affected my first day of school," she teased.
One more word from you, and I'm canceling that trip, I threatened.
At this, she quickly recited her prayers, and in no time, she was snoring.
Umm.. I am here, I said, but he was so caught up that he didn't notice.
Standing at the edge of the pool as I watched him swim, memories from the hot tub started to replay. I had to slap my cheek to bring me back to my senses.
"Ahem," Sir? You wanted to see me, I said, making my presence known again.
Yes, I did. I wanted you to join me, "he replied.
Thanks for the invite, but it's too dark for me to swim.
Is it? Because you invented this. So, whatever happened to that?
Ten years of imprisonment happened to it. There were no pools, so I outgrew it. I responded and then asked, "Apart from swimming, is there anything you wanted me to do?"
"Yep, there's," he replied, coming out of the pool, soaking wet from head to toes.
His body was covered in droplets of water, and the ones that ran down his face moisturized his lips, making me want to suck them. He was... so.. so.. s—sexy, never had he looked more handsome.
"Umm, have a seat first," he offered.
What I wanted to say is— Ah- hold on, could you wrap this around your body? I threw him a towel.
"Why?? Don't you want to feast your eyes?" He asked, making a pec bounce.
I swallowed hard, making a disgusted face.
"I'm just messing around," he said.
After wrapping the towel around his shoulders, he continued, Abby, I want us to live in harmony. Let's forget everything that ever happened.
Was I dreaming? Was Fredrick reslly seeking friendship?
Here is my token of peace. He handed me a gift bag, and inside was a box with a red ribbon beautifully tied around it.
"Go on, open it," he instructed.
As the content became visible, I couldn't believe my eyes, a sparking tennis diamond necklace attracted to a pendent!
What is this? I asked, concealing my joy.
A diamond necklace, which is the symbol of my desire for us to live at peace like friends. Therefore, you can accept it if you want the same.
Of course, I wholeheartedly accept your offer of harmony, but this gift is just too much. I can't accept it, I said. Putting it on his lap.
"Come on, this is nothing, and you can rest assured that there's no string attached. I promise
Do you want me to help you try it on?" He asked.
Sure, you can, but you shouldn't have gone this far, I replied.
You earned it, he said, as he moved behind my back, gathered my hair aside, and removed the locket necklace that I wore.
His gentle breath splash behind my ears, causing an awkward sensation to arise. I held my breath because my heart was pounding rapidly.
After hanging it around my neck, he leaned on my shoulders and whispered; "you can breathe now, I'm done!"
I curse under my breath and hissed my teeth.
Then I robbed my hands on it, and I could tell that my neck was glittering.
He snapped it and gave me the phone to see. Indeed, it was glittering with the pendent "Abigail" laid right across my chest.
"Wow, it's perfect and lovely. Thanks a million, Fredrick," I appreciated.
After a brief moment, I took it off. Upon a closer look, I realized that it wasn't just one of those tennis diamond necklaces. This was a very rare one.
Surely, he did put a lot of effort into this. I guess it's because I rejected his check. At last, he knows that I have standards.
Why are you in a hurry to remove it? Don't you like it? He asked
Of course I love it. I'm just trying to keep it safe.
"What if I told you that I'd want to see it on you during the rising of the sun?"
Are you suggesting that I keep it on until morning? But I don't want to damage it.
Trust me, it won't, I made sure it was designed for regular uses, so you can even wear it in the shower, and it won't get ruined..
How about I wear it in the morning? I offered.
Look, it's a symbol. That's why I want you to wear it at all times, just like when God placed the rainbow in the sky as a sign of his promise.
That's fascinating. But I already have a regular one, I said, putting the locket necklace back on.
He gave me a cold glance.
What's wrong? Did I say something bad?
Although he didn't respond, I could see it through him.
What? You don't want me to wear my family's necklace anymore?
"I'm fine with it as long as it's not in my presence. In all honesty, that thing bugs me," he confessed.
Alright, so what part of it is bugging? Are you jealous that I carry my ex picture around? I asked, ready to flirt.
"Hahaha," he laughed.
Are you serious right now? Abby, there's nothing to be jealous about. You're not — just save it, Fredrick, I butt in. You don't have to rub it in my face on every occasion.
Here, take it back. I am not interested in any other offers except the ones relating to my job here. I said angerily.
I ran off. He called after me but didn't care. I umped into bed, but I couldn't sleep, as the phrase "you're not my type" kept echoing in my head.
I was done throwing myself at him. From now onwards, he's no longer the man that I had secretly loved or the one whose daughter I carried for eleven months while enduring the hassle of the prison. He's just my boss . After this contract is over, I will take my daughter, and he'll never find out the truth.
