Fredrick Pov,
"Look, Mr., I know you are only doing your job, but please understand she is a minor. I can't possibly leave her out here by herself, and neither can I afford to miss this interview. So all I'm asking is that you allow her to sit in the lobby, I promise she won't leave her seat less touch anything, please..."
"Miss, what do you take this place for a preschool or a playground?
The CEO will be here any minute, so leave now, or you will be dragged away." A female staff said.
Watch what you say to my mother. We are here on your CEO's invitation, and I'm sure you know what would become of you if we told on you, you could become jobless in an instant.
"Ugh, so what are you? His long-lost daughter? I doubt because—Does she have to be, before you treat them with respect? You two are fired! Sam, I want them thrown out immediately!
"Sir, please, we were only joking!" The female cried.
"Greetings, Mr Watson. Has anyone told you how glamorous you look in that suit?" Audrey complimented
Thanks for the compliments, dear, and you look beautiful, too.
"Thank you. Quick question, though," she tip toes intending to whisper her question, noticing her I also reduced my height.
"You aren't really firing them, right?"
Of course I am. Is that not what you said I would do to them?
"Yeah, I said so, but I was only 'pulling their legs,' she whispered.
They have families to provide for. If you dismiss them, their families will really be devastated."
I'm sorry, Audery, but when a boss passes a decree, he doesn't take it back because your word is what makes you, you. That's why, next time, before you too say anything, you should consider its implications.
"Alright. I get it. But technically, you reacted based on words that I ignorantly said, and by the way, I'm just a child, so my words should have never been taken so seriously. Hence, let's say, I unsaid them, would you let them keep their jobs?"
Dear, it has already been said and done. They got what they deserved. So why not you go with Sam while your mother and I get down to business?
"Wow, this is a very great lesson for the three of us. Never be mean to others, and never make a rash wish.
So, can I stay with her instead of Sam, you know, in case I need to use the ladies' room?" She asked, referring to the lady who had insulted them earlier.
I could tell that she wasn't going to stop appealing for them, so I gave in to her plead.
Fine, they both can get back to work— "Yay! Yippee, you're the best, Mr Watson!—She jumped into my arms, and everyone in the lobby was like, "Whoa.."
Over the years, the closest contact I had ever made with any child was a handshake or a pat.
She is indeed her mother's child, never knowing their boundaries.
"That's enough. Get down, young lady, stop being so clumsy and apologize to Mr Watson," her mother said, pulling her down.
"Mr Watson, I sincerely apologized I just got carried away by your generosity. I promise to sit right here and not move an inch while you're gone."
"See you in you a moment, sweetie, mwah!"
"Really? So I'm just going to sit here? Come on, it's my first time here. Could I at least get a tour? — Audrey, stop! You've drawn too much attention already. So sit down and keep quiet! Her mother cut in.
It's alright. You, give her a tour and whatever she wants, and make sure she's safe, I ordered the lady.
After all of the drama, we finally managed to reach my office .
"Fred, I'm so sorry for causing a scene and for Audery's behavior too. I also want to thank you for standing up for us. I really appreciate it.
No need to thank me, I could have done the same for any of my employees. Next time, just remember that this is work space.
With that said, here is your copy of the contract it's a two year contract. Affix your signature here and there.
"You know I won't sign it until I have read it, so will you give me a moment?"
After a brief reading, she went "blue," instantly raising from her seat.
"What? What kind of insult is this? Are you freaking kidding me? Have you forgotten that I was once the f*****g manager of this damn company? Either you hire as one of the department heads or I'm out of here!"
Miss Abigail Brown, that was the past you. Back then, you were in your glorious moments, but now you're just an ex-convict who no one wants to hire or work with.
Luckily for you I'm geonerous.
"I don't need your pity! There's no way in hell that I would agree to work as your maid," she dropped the papers and turned to leave.
Fine by me! Walk out on it, but remember, right down there in the lobby, Audrey sits waiting to celebrate her mother's new job. Imagine how devastated she will be, knowing that you rejected this job.
"You... jerk. You can say all you want. I don't care. You will not turn me into your maid!!"
Of course, dear, so like I said earlier, the ball is in your court. I could see the anger built up in her, but she had no other option.
"Alright, I will take the job!" I nearly shouted "hurrah" upon hearing her say that.
Why was I this eager to share my home with her?
"I will take the job, but I have three demands: First, you will call the school and have Audrey enroll right this minute. Secondly you will pay me twice this salary and thirdly you will..... you will..
I will meet all of your demands, Can we get this over with now?
"Sure, let me just sign here, and... here and.. here!"
Good, thank you! Sam will be there later to help you move your stuff in— What I can't move in right away, I have things to take care of.
Well, you can take all the time you want, but know that Audrey's admission will not be completed until you've moved in.
"But the registration closes in two day, it has to be done today."
I'm aware. Are you ready to move in today?
"You're a complete jerk, Fredrick."
As my employee, you will address me in a professional manner, so you either call me Mr Watson or Sir, got it?
She squeezed eyes fighting back the tears and said softly, "Yes, I will do as you wish, Sir." She then took a deep breath before excusing herself.
Even in her anger, she still gives out that exceptional appearance. Abigail is brilliant and witty and has more confidence than anybody I've ever met. It is evident in the way her beauty shines from inside out, the way her eyes dance when she laughs even though deep down her soul is crying.
I felt pity for her, but on a second thought, she deserved everything that was happening to her.
"Now the game was on!"
