CHAPTERONE

"I have been running, running all my life, non-stop. I have never stopped for one day. I have continued to run, and I had my reasons for that. I guess everyone's happiness is always having children, but my tragedy started the day I had my triplets. I had never had a one-day rest with them. I have just been running and running for my safety. I waited to see my triplets sleeping on their own bed as they snored loudly. I couldn't help but smile in adoration as I watched them sleep soundly. Staring at the faces of my triplets at the end of the day made me so happy and so fulfilled. It felt like I was not working in vain and instead I was doing the right thing. I believed in whatever I was doing just to protect them. I would keep on protecting them that way from our father, Theodore. He would never be able to find us no matter what."

"'Just then, a knock on the door distracted me as I stood up immediately. I rushed to the little hole on the door and peeped, only to see it was Sarah, my new friend in this new community. She knocked continuously as I stared at her hand and saw a delicious tray of cookies, I knew it was for the triplets. Without even opening the door, the triplets had already jumped up as they began to clap their hands excitedly. 'Auntie Sarah is back, auntie Sarah is back,' they could. I couldn't help but smile widely. They always loved everything about aunt Sarah."

"'I opened the door and the multiple locks I had placed on it, as she had a wise smile on her face. 'I know how secure you can be, but didn't you take quite too long just to open the door?' she said. I tapped down the shoulder playfully as she walked in and dropped the tray of cookies down. The triplets were about to put their hand forcefully into it and take a bite as I stopped them. Do you understand?' I warned them, as they all had blushing eyes, as they smiled and pleaded with Aunt Sarah, who told them to go ahead."

"'I sat beside her as she placed a hand on my shoulder, 'You look so exhausted. Do not tell me you came back late from work yesterday because I told you to take a rest. Why couldn't you just have one?' she said, as I shrugged. She will never be able to understand. Before speaking, I immediately covered up my sorrows and depression with a smile. 'It is not easy to feed 3 children. Of course, I have to walk daily and continuously so that they can stay healthy and pretty as they are. So do not try to tell me to rest because the minute I rest, my children lack. I've become hungry, and I do not want that.' I said to her, she started laughing."

"'And who said they will go hungry? I am your friend, and I am here for you. Of course, they will never go hungry. If you ever need anything from me, I always tell you multiple times that whenever you need something from me, you should always let me know, and I will always do it for you. So do not say you are alone. You are not alone. We are best friends, and we're going to step down. We are going to be friends for as long as possible. Just believe me,' she said, as I started laughing and hugged her tightly."

"'You are the only one I have here in this park. I am a stranger here, and I'd want to stay that way. Please do not do me any favor for the only one I ask you every day. Protect them, and do not let anyone get or place their hands on my children. Please, I beg of you, Sarah,' I said to her, as she smiled. 'You don't have to beg me. I always have your back, no matter what,' she said, as I hugged her tightly, feeling emotional."

"'I turned around, only to see that the triplets had already finished all the cookies that Sarah brought. I was about to scold them, but Sarah stopped me, as she told me that she had other cookies too and just decided to bring this as a peace offering for the triplets, who she did not get to give any snacks the other day.'"
