CLAIRE~7

“I really can’t believe that you got the stairs wrong…” I sighed letting Hayley brush my hair under the showers. The bathroom was so big and luxurious. I could compare it to a spa. A big pool in the middle just like in the boys’ bathroom, a number of showers with small seats next to it, marble walls and floor... I thought for a second that so much marble would be dangerous considering how slippery it could turn out to be.   “I’m a human too you know! I’m allowed to make mistakes, even if most of the time I’m right”, she whined overdramatically. I laughed. “Seriously, I’m glad they didn’t come after us”. “As if they would! I’m sure tomorrow they won’t even remember our faces”. She brushed my hair more violently proving her frustration. “Anyway, I noticed one thing though in all of this. Your eyes girl didn’t want to let go of Nathan. What’s up? Find him handsome?” He indeed was handsome. I knew that from the moment he stood out of our room. His body looked muscular but seeing him naked sent a whole different vibe. Thank God the steam blocked his sensitive areas.  Still, the water sliding down his chest, the way he looked up washing his hair, his long neck, his wide back, all of those seemed so attractive and difficult to not admire. He also had a hard time trying not to get water on his bandage. I blushed only at the thought. “Your silence means you actually do find him attractive, I assume!” I looked around me. Luckily there were few girls taking a bath. I was relieved. I didn’t really want others to know that I found him that attractive. “I guess I do… But I always had a thing for beautiful people so don’t worry. It’s an artist thing I suppose”. “Come on now Claire. You can’t tell me that you don’t want to get under the covers with him”. My cheeks immediately flushed. “What? No. What are you talking about? I don’t even know him”. “Yeah so? What’s holding you back from getting to know him?” “There is no way Hayley. He seems so distant. Almost impossible to catch. Let alone the fact that he may actually not want to associate with me. I don’t know why I have this feeling. Besides, I’m supposed to be in love with Phillip, I couldn’t possibly be looking for another man…”  I admitted. She looked at my slyly sitting in front of me. “Oh that’s interesting! Tell me more! Phillip huh? Have you told him yet?” I let out another sigh. “I’m not going to tell him Hayley. Things are fine just as they are now”. She looked surprised. “What? You can’t be serious now, can you?” “I actually am! It’s better that way. I like and cherish the relationship we have now. But something is bothering me…” “Let me hear it”. “Earlier today, when Nathan stood out of our door, I felt something in my chest. I can’t really define it. It was almost like something inside me wanted to get out. And then my heartbeat got faster, my neck started to feel dry and I felt like crying. Say, do you know what that means?” I said playing with my wet hair. In fact only the thought of him made me feel this way. I could not explain it, it was weird. “Hell yeah I do. That’s what I call love at first sight!” My eyes widen. “It can’t be Hayley. I don’t know him and I have barely even talked to him”. “Listen to me love, if you really don’t want to ruin your relationship with Phillip and you’re sure that you won’t regret giving up on him, then I suggest you to turn your eyes to Nathan. I’m telling you Claire, this feeling doesn’t appear to just anyone. I’m sensing something big”. She said rubbing her temples as if she was some kind of medium. Ι  smiled unconsciously. “Did you turn into some kind of psychic?” “Maybe I already am and I don’t know it yet!” She said washing the shampoo off her hair. The water started turning blue and she freaked out when she saw her fingers. “s**t! My hair dye!” she grumbled and looked over at the waterproof clock. “Look at the time! We should get dressed too. The ceremony starts in less than three hours. Come on Claire, get up, get up!” she shouted anxiously and turned off the shower. She grabbed her towel, wrapped it around her slim body and started running towards the door. I immediately called out to her. “Hayley! You’re going to slip! The marble…” I was late. In a matter of seconds Hayley was kissing the floor. I quickly copied her moves and helped her stand up. “God, are you okay?” “It hurts…” she said looking at her injured knee and elbow. “Of course it does! You slipped. I knew that the marble was dangerous”. I found the other girls trying to hold back their laughs. Hayley noticed it. “Go ahead! Laugh. I’d do the same if I saw me anyways!” She held onto me, picked our bags and walked with my help out of the bathroom. It took us ages to go down the stairs. Hayley was literally limping. “God I’m so clumsy…” she sobbed. “It’s okay, I too have been through the same”. I said thinking back at when I slipped into Phillip’s bathroom and ended up on the top of him. So embarrassing... Little did I know that this would happen again, but this time, I fell onto Nathan. It happened so fast. I was trying to help Hayley who had missed her step due to the injury. I pushed her back at the biggest and broadest stair each floor had so that she wouldn’t fall down but I ended up taking her place. “Claire, watch out!” she screamed terrified but it was too late. I was falling. Unfortunately Nathan was going up the stairs running for some reason and I dragged him with me. In a couple of seconds we were both on the floor. I landed on the top of him with only a towel covering my naked body. Our faces met, our lips were a kiss away and our eyes drawn together. My hair were done up in a messy bun which had loosen and eventually fell showering his face with water drips. “I’m so sorry…” I spoke breathlessly. We were so close. I was so close looking in his deep blue eyes that sparkled as if they were sapphires. He struggled not to look at my chest and I didn’t blame him. I was covered by a mare towel anyway and he also wore only a towel around his hips. His chest, it was so hard and muscular. My cheeks flushed red. He turned his gaze elsewhere embarrassed. “It’s okay, just stand up slowly”, he said and I immediately lifted myself up using my palms. Of course, they slipped due to the water dripping from my hair that had created a small pond next to Nathan’s head. I again fell against his bare chest. God it was burning hot. “The universe wants you two to kiss, why don’t you get it?” I heard Hayley’s voice and I quickly stood up. “What are you saying Hayley? Here…” I offered my hand and he accepted it holding his towel with the other. I lifted him up. “I really am sorry. Are you sure you’re not hurt anywhere?” I asked looking down embarrassed. “I’m fine. The girls though won’t be fine if that i***t reaches your bathroom”, he said and with a wave he continued running up the stairs without even looking at me. “See you tonight Hayley”, he shouted. “You bet!” I on the other hand stood there preoccupied and confused. What had just happened? I was literally shaking both from fear and the sensation of being that close to a half naked man. Hayley slowly approached me. “There it was again. The spark! I’m telling you, you guys…” “I’m such an i***t!” I cried out interrupting her speech. She took me by the shoulder and we walked silently towards our floor. We got into our room and I spotted a huge box on my bed. “Don’t ever say that again. You’re not an i***t, you just chose to protect me instead of yourself. And thank you for that. Good thing Nathan was nearby”. I reached for my first aid kit under my bed. My mother told me to have it just in case. “Hayley, let me take care of your injuries. You’re still bleeding”. “Oh hun, it’s fine really. Not my first, neither my last time ridiculously falling. I’d rather see you unwrap your gift”. I made her sit on her desk chair. “I will, after I’m done with this”. I quickly cleaned the blood from her knee and bandaged up. I copied my actions with her elbow. “Done”. “Thanks Claire, bad thing is that I’ll be all bandaged up at the ceremony. My dress is short too… Oh well, see your dress now and I’ll help you put it on”. I smiled at her and went towards my bed. I undid the purple bow and opened the white box. I was stunned. First thing I noticed was the sparkling bust. It was covered in tiny diamonds. I pulled out to see the long alpha line shimmering. It was like someone had spilled fairy dust on the tulle. “God Hayley, how much did that cost?” I asked amazed. She came closer and smiled playfully. “Well, those kinds of questions I can’t answer. Also wear your glasses, I’m sure your broken pair gave you a hard time”. I smiled and took the fancy glass case from my bed. I opened it to find a gorgeous pair of glasses with metallic skeleton decorated with two small delicate crystals on the sides. “So? Do you like them?” I looked at her holding back my tears of joy and hugged her. “I love them… thank you”. She returned my hug. “Come on now. No need for you to thank me”. She looked at the clock and then back to me slyly. “Look at the time, you ready to shine?”
