As Mia stirred from her slumber, the comforting weight of sleep slowly releasing its hold on her, she stretched her arms languidly, relishing in the warmth of her cosy bed. With a contented sigh, she reached out to grab her phone, her fingers fumbling in the darkness as she searched for the familiar glow of the screen. But as her hand brushed against the space beside her, panic shot through her like a bolt of lightning. Her phone was nowhere to be found. Confusion clouded her mind as she blinked away the remnants of sleep, her gaze darting around the unfamiliar surroundings of the room. As Mia struggled to make sense of the situation, her mind a whirlwind of confusion and fear, she clung to the fragments of memory that flickered dimly in the recesses of her consciousness. Graduation, betrayal, the bitter sting of vodka against her lips—each memory a jagged piece of a puzzle that refused to fit together. With a furrowed brow, she turned her gaze back to the man before her, his mocking laughter echoing in her ears like a cruel taunt. "I don't get it," she whispered, her voice trembling with uncertainty. "What are you trying to say, Mr…?" But before she could finish her question, a sense of unease washed over her like a tidal wave. The man's eyes gleamed with a knowing glint, his lips twisting into a smirk that sent a chill down Mia's spine. "You don't remember, do you?" he mused, his voice dripping with derision. "Or perhaps you're just pretending." Mia's heart hammered in her chest as she struggled to grasp the implications of his words. What had happened to her last night? And more importantly, why was she now waking up in a strange place, with a stranger looming over her like a specter of doom? With a surge of defiance, Mia squared her shoulders, refusing to let fear dictate her actions. "I demand to know where I am," she declared, her voice trembling but firm. "And who you are. You have no right to keep me here against my will." But as she awaited his response, the man's smirk widened into a predatory grin, sending a shiver down Mia's spine. In that moment, she knew that she was in the grip of forces far beyond her comprehension—and that the answers she sought might plunge her deeper into the shadows than she ever dared to tread. Before she could make sense of her predicament, a voice shattered the silence, slicing through the fog of her confusion like a knife. Mia's heart skipped a beat as she turned to face the source of the sound—a man clad in a black suit, his dark aura casting a shadow over the room. "Are you awake?" His words hung in the air, dripping with a hint of amusement that sent a shiver down Mia's spine. Panic surged through her veins as she struggled to comprehend the gravity of her situation. This was not her house, not her room—she was in a completely different place, with a stranger standing before her. Fighting to keep her voice steady, Mia stammered, "Where am I? Who are you?" But before she could gather her thoughts, the man's mocking laughter filled the room, sending a chill down her spine. "You really don't remember the last night?" His words cut through the air like a knife, each syllable dripping with scorn. Mia's mind raced as she struggled to piece together the fragments of her memory, but the events of the previous night remained shrouded in darkness. With a sinking feeling in the pit of her stomach, Mia realised that she was trapped in a nightmare from which there was no escape. And as the man's dark gaze bore into her soul, she knew that the answers she sought would only lead her deeper into the shadows of her own unravelling reality. Mia's heart raced as she defended herself, her words trembling with fear and uncertainty. "I am not pretending," she insisted, her voice quivering with raw emotion. "I don't remember anything after drinking. Maybe I don't remember anything…I'm telling the truth." But her protestations fell on deaf ears as the man before her scoffed in disbelief, his derisive laughter cutting through the tension like a knife. "Don't be so naive," he sneered, his words dripping with scorn. "You were hanging onto me, saying you love me? And I'm so handsome and all." Mia's blood ran cold at his words, a wave of horror crashing over her as she struggled to comprehend the implications of his accusation. Was it possible? Had she really confessed her feelings to this stranger in a moment of drunken vulnerability? With a sinking feeling in the pit of her stomach, Mia realized that the truth might be far more unsettling than she ever dared to imagine. And as she stood there, her world unraveling before her eyes, she knew that the answers she sought would only lead her deeper into the labyrinth of her own fractured memories. Mia's head throbbed with pain as she pleaded for forgiveness, her voice laced with desperation and regret. "Listen, I'm sorry for causing you damage…because I was in a drunken state and didn't mean it. Please forget it. I'm leaving, please show me the way to the exit," she implored, her panic palpable as she longed to escape the suffocating grip of this strange and unsettling place. But her hopes were dashed as the man's voice cut through the air like a whip, his words dripping with menace and control. "Where do you think you are going, huh?" he growled, his tone sending a shiver down Mia's spine. As he thrust a piece of paper into her trembling hands, Mia's heart sank like a stone. With trembling fingers, she unfolded the document, her eyes scanning the words with growing horror. "You already made an agreement that you would stay here forever with me," the man declared triumphantly, his smirk twisting into a sinister grin. "And here is the agreement paper. Read it carefully." Mia's mind reeled as she struggled to comprehend the gravity of the situation. Trapped in a web of deceit and manipulation, she realized that her escape might not be as simple as she had hoped. And as she stared down at the damning words on the page before her, Mia knew that she was in for a fight—a fight for her freedom, her sanity, and her very life. Mia's voice trembled with a mixture of confusion and unease as she dared to ask the question that weighed heavy on her mind. "What happened between us?" she inquired, her tone laced with a sense of unknowing certainty. "You can ask my bodyguard because I'm out. How can a person forget such an important thing…even I could remember such a thing." Her words hung in the air like a heavy fog, and the silence that followed was thick with tension and uncertainty. As she awaited a response, Mia's mind raced with a whirlwind of thoughts and emotions, each one vying for her attention as she struggled to make sense of the situation in which she found herself. But as the seconds stretched into minutes, there was no answer forthcoming, no reassurance to quell the rising tide of fear that threatened to overwhelm her. And as she stood there, alone in the darkness, Mia realised that the truth might be far more elusive—and far more dangerous—than she had ever dared to imagine.
