The air was thick with the scent of smoke and the remnants of conflict, but there was a fragile calm that began to emerge. The once-vibrant sounds of clashing swords and battle cries had faded, replaced by the weary murmurs of soldiers tending to the wounded and cleaning up the remnants of the fight. Inside the castle, Vera lay still, her face pale against the crisp white sheets. A soft light streamed through the window, illuminating the delicate features that Max had come to admire. Despite the chaos outside, a sense of tranquility enveloped her room. Savannah sat at Vera’s side, her hand resting gently on Vera’s forehead, brushing back a few errant strands of hair.
