“We don’t have enough time Stella, it’s 3 days already and no one has shown up here, was the price not big enough? Or, maybe we should increase it?” Lucas said as he paced around his office. “Sir, you just have to calm down, there’s still some time left.” Secretary Stella, a middle aged woman in her 40’s said. “Time? Did you just hear yourself? I have just two more days to get married or I kiss being the heir of this company goodbye.” We’ve got no time Stella. “I’ll put out more advert as soon as I can sir” Stella responded “Then what more are you waiting for, do your damn job, " he yelled. And also get me the current market analysis file.” “Okay sir, Sir, should I cancel your afternoon meeting with the shareholders?” “That’s not necessary, get everything ready for the meeting, I’ll be there in an hour's time” he said as he stared at the beauty of Las Vegas through the window In his office. Stella bowed with respect as she exits the office. Lucas stood looking at the buildings with a glass of wine on his right hand. “Grandpa you have to take it easy on Lucas, he’ll definitely do the right thing,” Jane pleaded. “He refused to take his responsibility as the heir of the Midas Company, I don’t think he understands this at all,” Mr. Bernard Lucas grandfather showed his concerns for his grandson whom he thinks isn’t ready to take over the leadership of his company. “Grandpa don’t yell too much, remember what the doctor said, you…” before she could finish up her sentence, Mr. Bernard cuts in. “I know that Jane,” he says as he hits his walking stick on the floor loudly. “Lucas is just so stubborn. Two days remaining and if he doesn’t show up without a bride I’ll make sure I transfer the ownership of this company to his cousin brother and I’ll make sure he suffers to get his money.” Mr. Bernard said. “Grandpa, I believe he knows what he's doing,” Jane slowly says as she runs his shoulders. “Pa,” Jane called. “What about the money for my birthday party, remember you promised it’s today “ Of course, I can’t forget, I’ll send some money to you later. Jane smiles as she perks her grandpa on his cheeks. Mr. Bernard loves Jane so much, ever since his son passed away in a car accident leaving behind Lucas and Jane, he vowed to take care of them. He made sure Jane lacked nothing, and always has protected her interest. Meanwhile, after a few minutes, a red car drove into the apartment, Mr. Bernard sitting comfortably knowing that it was Lucas, his grandchild. Jane rushed to Lucas, “Pa, has really been angry with you, he’s been yelling at me nonstop, " she said, trying to keep up with Lucas' pace. Lucas walked toward Mr. Bernard with confidence, his shoes stomping the ground as he walked, without giving ears to his sister lamenting. “Lucas I’m damn serious, he won’t stop yelling, you got to do something right away “ Jane persisted. Lucas paused for a while irritated by his sister persistent voice, “Will you the f**k up “ he ordered while moving towards his grandfather. “Greetings sir, just got through the meetings with the board of directors, they extended their greetings and can’t wait to be sitting with us in the next meeting.” He said while gesturing his respect for him. “Nah, they’re just a bunch of losers who can’t wait to see me dead, so they crush the company I worked hard to build because they obviously saw that my grandson is incapable of handling his father’s business “ Mr. Bernard said while smoking his cigarette. Lucas looked at his father with his hands in his pocket he answered, I believe I’ll manage the company better than my father did,” “Well your father was a weakling just like you, and a weakling can’t handle my legacy.” Mr. Bernard said while looking into his son's eyes. His words were like a cut to Lucas ego, he has always worked hard to prove to his grandfather that he is better than his dead father. He watched as the smoke from his cigarette danced slowly around the air, it was as though they agreed to what Mr. Bernard said. Jane on the other hand looked at her brother Lucas with sympathy. “I’ll try my best to maintain this family's legacy.” Lucas said. That’s absurd, Mr. Bernard said in a loud voice while dropping his cigarette stick on the floor, he stood up with the support of his walking stick, he stepped on the cigarette and looked straight into Lucas eyes, “Your best is not good enough, I give you two days to bring home a wife, or else I’m handing over the ownership of the company to your cousin Jake.” Lucas clenched his fist so tight in anger, he hated this cousin brother so much and has come a long way to lose everything just to him. “Okay sir, “ Lucas said as he turned to leave. His sister Jane rushed to him, “Lucas, why make things difficult for you, I have some female friends who won’t say no to being your wife, “ she suggested. Without a glance Lucas responded, “Keep them to yourself, I have everything under control,” he said as he matched his car. “But what about Denise?” On hearing that name Lucas paused, his heart raced, he started at his sister, "Stay out of my business, don’t you have where you need to be or at least what to do?” he said as he entered his red Chevrolet Blazer EV and drove off. Jane, pissed, watched him leave.
