Over the next couple of days, Longinus, Cruikshank, and Rory found themselves waiting for Lady Martha’s promised visit, Longinus with particular trepidation. In anticipation of her arrival, he had been dressing with exquisite care, but they had yet to hear any news.
To try and pass the time, Longinus had been sending her two poems a day rather than his customary one. It made him feel a little better to think that his beloved was reading his words, even though she was unaware he was the writer. Like they were connected, somehow.
