CHAPTER 13 Beyond the drape was a corridor, illuminated by vapour lamps in sconces. To her right a set of stairs descended, while up ahead the corridor turned sharply left. Rory could hear voices and laughter coming from the stairs below, and she recognised the singer’s baritone. She crept forward down the corridor, peering around the corner.
