CHAPTER 4 Although he felt bad for Rory and the dressing down she had received, Longinus was too ecstatic about his brief interaction with Lady Martha to be able to focus on anything else for long. She had thought it an excellent idea for him to go speak to Howshinger! And even better, she had defended his presence at the meeting. Longinus replayed the scene carefully, trying to establish if that had been simple professional courtesy or a desire to see him. Could she have worked out that he was the one sending her the daily poems? The thought sent a delightful shiver down his spine.
