Chapter 26: Out of the shadows
Esmeralda I wasn’t sure I was still happy after agreeing. When she turned up, she was still beautiful as ever and when she tripped, Lucan caught her and offered his arm to hold on to as we carried on searching. Clearly the witch wasn’t in this specific town, and Freya mentioned there being a smaller one about fifteen minutes walk from here. We started heading that way and by now it was night time but Freya assured us that the shops in this city were often open late, and we still had time. She guided us down a short pathway that was quiet, too quiet for my liking. Since I had been with Lucan I had left my old clan, I didn’t want to belong to them anymore and even if I had, they would have killed me instantly after everything that went down with the mother of the night.
