Jackson
I woke up to the sounds of a fast beeping and what felt like an earthquake that had me instantly on my feet ready to fight. I looked down at Rose to see she was convulsing and started to foam at the mouth. Damien was nowhere in sight. I bent down and rolled Rose onto her side so she wouldn’t choke on her tongue or fluids. I was trying to keep her from falling off the bed but it was hard due to the fact of being afraid I would break her bones if I held her too tight. The machine in the room was still beeping loudly as her heart rate was sky high. Where is everyone?
“SOMEBODY GET IN HERE AND HELP HER NOW!!!!” My voice boomed through the room filled with fear and anger. Just as the door to the hallway flung open, so did the bathroom door and out came running Damien. “What is wrong with her?” I asked all the nurses that were in the room.
“We are unsure the doctor is on his way. We are going to give her medication to try to stop her seizure.” A blonde nurse spoke up as she jabbed a needle into Rose’s bicep and immediately injected the contents. Seconds later Rose’s convulsions started to slow down and then come to a complete stop. The beeping of the machine started to settle to a normal rate and I let go of a breath that I hadn’t realized that I was holding.
“What in the f**k happened? I went to pee, I wasn’t even gone for ten seconds!” Damien questioned as he ran his hands through his hair like he normally does in emotional situations.
“I don’t know man! One minute I’m sleeping and the next thing I know the machines started going crazy and she started having a seizure. One of the worst ones I have ever seen.” I told him while still trying to calm my nerves. “Why did she have a seizure?” I asked a nurse. Just as she was about to answer me, Dr. Hillman came walking in.
“I believe I have the answer to that. Thank you ladies you may leave now, I can handle things from here.” He smiled at them as they all began to leave the room. Once they all had left, he shut the door and began talking. “I was looking at her blood and from what I can tell the reason she had a seizure is because she hasn’t shifted into her wolf yet so her wolf and dragon are fighting over which will shift first to be the dominate one.” He was looking me straight in the eyes as if he knew about me.
“I never had this problem, I shifted into my wolf first and then my dragon. How did you know?” I asked him unable to hold my question back.
“Who do you think delivered you?” He chuckled and went back to Rose. “ As for her it’s very evident in her blood that she was given enough wolfsbane everyday since she was of age to turn to keep her wolf from coming to the surface.” The pain in his eyes for Rose didn’t go unnoticed.
“Why didn’t her dragon come out then?” Damien asked. Dragons first shift at 16 years old too.
“The aura I told you I seen on her X-rays is a spell that kept her dragon from coming out until she found her mate.” Dr. Hillman looked between the both of us.
“How can both parts of her have a mate? That’s unheard of! Only one side should be more pronounced than the other.” I asked him. Damien stood the stroking Rose’s hair but making it clear he was listening.
“I’m getting to that. After further looking into her blood and scans, Rose is no ordinary hybrid. Actually she’s not even a hybrid, she’s a tribrid…” His voice trailed off waiting for us to absorb what he just said.
“Excuse me, she’s a what?” Damien asked, completely confused.
“Rose is not just a werewolf and a dragon, she’s also a witch. From the amount of markers in her blood, she comes from a very powerful bloodline. Her witch side is what kept her wolf from dying from the wolfsbane.” He explained. Damien sat down in his chair and continued to look at Rose with admiration in his eyes. “Both you boys should be aware, she is not safe. The pack you got her from knows she is not normal if they were trying to kill her. They will come back for her. But she is in a lot of danger from every species, the power she possesses from all 3 parts of her can be stolen from her.” The grim look on his face told me I didn’t want to know what he was about to say next but I needed to know.
“They would have to kill her wouldn’t they?” Damien asked through gritted teeth.
“Yes, but to absorb one's power, you have to drink their blood on the night of a full moon.” Dr. Hillman’s voice was laced with disgust. “I will have a nurse come in every half an hour to check for signs for another seizure and to administer a medication that will prevent her from seizing anymore. I’m going to keep testing her blood for wolfsbane and once it’s completely out of her system I have to wake her. She needs to shift in both forms as soon as possible. It might happen instantly or it might take a day. But since she has found both her mates you both need to be there to guide her.” He said in a firm tone.
“She doesn’t know she’s more than a werewolf.” I whispered as I looked down at my beautiful mate. Dr. Hillman just nodded and walked out of the room. I sat back down in my chair and grabbed her hand. I needed to be as close to her as possible. I placed a kiss on her knuckles and laid my head back down on the bed and drifted off to sleep.
Damien
After Dr. Hillman left the room, not a word was exchanged between Jackson and I. He fell back asleep and I sat there watching him, how much he cared for her already is something I have never seen from him. It was a warming sight. He has always tried so hard to be perfect and searched for the missing piece in his life and now that he has found it, it comes with difficulty. It’s evident in his eyes, that he will die protecting her, we both will.
I know the bond these two will have will be different from mine and hers because it is their dragon parts that are mates. I have always wondered why I was always so drawn to Jackson and why it was a no brainer to make him my beta. I got my answer tonight but I wish it was under better circumstances. I know we can make this triangle work, what scares me is what Rose will think. She has had a tragic life already and it’s fair from being over. But she no longer has to do it alone.
Just like Dr. Hillman said a nurse came in to check Rose’s vitals and put a medicine in her IV to prevent her from seizing again. I prayed to the moon goddess to keep her alive and help her get through this and cursed her for what she had already put her through. I want nothing more than to go back to the disgrace of a pack and tear them all apart for what they did. After I have slept some I will bump up security and patrol, so no one is allowed on my territory without my permission. I dozed off daydreaming about what the future held in store for us and I finally felt complete, but nothing could have prepared me for what the future actually held for us.
