Then one day in the forest he was deep in thought as usual when Alun alerted him to danger by pushing at his hand. The creature’s brown eyes were wide and terrified, his body trembling. As soon as his beloved master had registered the danger Alun was off, springing and leaping to safety — soon to be out of sight. The pigs, who had been rooting and snuffling a moment before, now looked restless and uneasy, sniffing the air and turning their heads about. Bladud gazed around and soon spotted the cause of their uneasiness. Emerging from a thicket came a huge male boar, with vicious tusks and bristling pelt, its eyeballs red as fire.
