BaddonBladud’s next big project was to build the temple, and a healing sanctuary dedicated to Sul, in the West Country. All this he supervised himself. First he established a town on a flat-topped hill overlooking the winding river, the very place where he had passed the night before his first encounter with the oracle — that night of potent and significant visions, and a magnificent experience of stars. It was necessary to flatten the hilltop further, using earth and rock removed from the summit to build up ramparts around the circumference.
This town became known as Baddon.
