Chapter 25: A Happiness Short Lived

I slowly open my eyes. I could hear light whispers coming from somewhere in the room, but I couldn't make out what they were saying. After my eyes adjusted to the light, or lack of it more specifically, I slowly sit up, looking for the source of those whispers.

I see an outline of a body near the window, with its back to me. When I focus more, I see that the outline is Aiden. He was on the phone talking to someone.

I try to listen to what he is saying.

"... I'm not going to make her come back. What do you want me to do?" He whisper yells at the other person on the other end of the line. He pauses to listen to the other person.

"No." He says with determination. "No, I wouldn't do that... I know what I promised you but-"
