Chapter One: We meet Again
“We meet again. Welcome to Akeledon High, bitch.”
The voice slid behind me. Sweet. Sharp. Like glass dragged across skin.
I didn’t turn. My heart beat so loud I was sure the whole class could hear it.
_Gbim. Gbim. Gbim._
******Ten Years Ago.......******
I was running. Bare feet slapping against grass that smelled like rain.
My two little brothers chased me, laughing, hands reaching for my pink bow. The one Daddy bought the day before.
“Catch me if you can!” I screamed. Tears of joy blurred my eyes. I couldn’t see where I was going. Didn’t need to. I just needed to feel. Each heart beat bringing me closer to the trees and the Musty fragrance hitting me.
I had a clear picture in my head, my mother always said that was how I was born, Her rose.
Speaking of my mother, she stood by the old oak tree, arms open. She laughed too. Her eyes were green, Beautiful and green.
She pulled all three of us into a hug and pressed her lips to our heads.
“I love you. I love you all.”
For one second, the world was warm.
---
The memory snapped.
My elbow came back with all ten years of rage behind it. I drove it straight into her jaw.
_CRACK._
One of her teeth broke loose. Blood hit her table and the floor. She shrieked.
Silence. The kind that presses against your ears.
It was what I needed, what I craved.
"Children of Darkness need silence, they need pain, they need..... darkness" Ma Yonga will always say.
“She doesn’t know,” someone whispered. “That’s the owner’s daughter. She’s dead. She’s so dead.”
The girl staggered up, blood on her lips, eyes wild. She lunged for me.
I caught her by the hem of her uniform and flipped her. Slamming her onto the floor.
The thud echoed through the silent class. Through all of Akeledon High. A warning.
I leaned down over her. My scar caught in the light.
I know how this is going to end quiet, And I’m so looking forward to it.
