19 “Is she—?” Trevor loomed over Kira with a concerned frown. His hand had dropped from his nose. Kira leaned in close to Marcia. She could barely make out the shallow rise of the other woman’s chest in the shadows. A weak breath of air brushed her cheek. “She’s still breathing!” Kira gently shook Marcia’s shoulder. Marcia’s head lolled. “Marcia?” The fallen woman didn’t respond. “Get out of the way,” Trevor said. Kira looked up at him in surprise, but she could see by the serious look on his face that he meant business. She rose to her feet and scuffled aside through the garbage. Trevor crouched beside Marcia and scooped her up in his arms before returning to his feet with a grunt. Marcia’s eyelids flickered and she uttered a low groan, but did not regain consciousness.
