*Evangeline* Things move at a rapid pace. I find Wicky’s lady’s maid and instruct her to pack a small bag of clothing for the Luna, that she is going to Claybourne’s country estate to recover. Then I pack a smaller bag for Ethan. While servants put the bags into Claybourne’s waiting coach, I wake Ethan and carry the small boy outside. Claybourne joins me there, carrying Wicky bundled in blankets. Now he holds Wicky on his lap, trying to provide an extra buffer between her and the rattling coach. Periodically, Wicky groans and Ethan sniffles. We stop at my residence, and I stuff a simple dress, nightclothes, and undergarments into a satchel for myself. Then I go to see my father.
