Adeline's POV
WHY does something feel strange today? Why do I feel like someone is playing tricks on me?
Earlier, I just placed the rag near my feet so I could scrub the bathroom tiles first. But when I looked back at where I left it, it was gone.
Then my comb suddenly disappeared earlier too, and when I came back, it was already in my room, covered with saliva.
I grimaced when I thought about it. It was as if some kids had been playing with my things.
Even my floral panties went missing from the clothesline. And the garter of that panty was already loose.
“They said Master Blood arrived last night with his mischievous triplets.”
Master Blood? And who is that? Is he Master’s brother, or maybe a visitor?
“No garlic, okay? Don’t cook food with garlic again,” the house’s maid supervisor sternly reminded me. She was the one in charge of all of us, even in the kitchen and the laundry. And it was her daughter who put garlic in the food I cooked the other day—her name is Anna.
I was about to grab the spatula when someone took it from me. When I looked, it was Anna’s sharp face that I saw.
“I’ll do it. You just arrange the plates over there.”
Even the way she spoke sounded rude. Just like her mother—both of them had terrible attitudes.
Even though I was annoyed, I still smiled at her and pushed the spatula into her hand. She looked surprised by what I did, but before she could say anything to me, I already left with the fragile plates.
WHEN I was already at the table, I was being very careful not to drop the plates because aside from being fragile, they also looked expensive.
But just my luck—someone bumped into me and I dropped the fragile plates.
And to make matters worse, Master was already in the dining area with a man as tall as him, and three triplets who were staring at me as if they were laughing at me.
I quickly knelt down to pick up the broken plate when I suddenly cut my hand. I froze when I realized something.
Oh no!
I was surrounded by vampires.
And they must not find out that I am human.
I gasped when Master suddenly knelt in front of me and held my hand, making me look at him. He stared straight at me, and my gaze returned to my hand when I felt him holding it.
“Shhh…” he said to me while giving me a small grin.
I just stared at him. My eyes were full of fear, but somehow I felt light and calm. Especially when he was holding my hand. It felt like I could trust him with everything.
“Aloisa, you handle things here first. Please take care of my guests.”
I saw the head maid panicking, and I also caught Anna giving me sharp glares.
I WAS hesitantly staring at Master Vladimir when he entered the room.
He raised an eyebrow when he noticed that I had no intention of going inside.
“You don’t want to come in? Are you scared?”
“N-no,” I answered quickly, even stuttering.
“Then come in. And I’m not going to bite you without your permission,” he said before turning his back on me.
I went inside and carefully closed the door. When I faced him, his back was turned to me as if he was fixing something. When he faced me again, he was holding betadine and cotton.
I swallowed nervously when he sat on the chair near the bed and gently tapped it, as if signaling for me to sit there.
I followed while keeping my eyes on him.
“Why weren’t you being careful?” he asked calmly while holding my bleeding hand.
“I was careful. Someone just bumped into me.”
“Who bumped into you?”
“I—I don’t know.”
“Why don’t you know?”
“Because I didn’t see who bumped into me.”
He stopped treating my wound and looked straight into my eyes. I felt like a statue when our eyes met.
“You should be more careful next time, Adeline.”
All the hairs on my body stood up when I heard him call my name. His voice was deep but carried a sense of caution.
I stayed silent and watched him put a bandage on my wound.
“You smelled my blood.”
“And?” he raised an eyebrow.
Why did it seem like it didn’t matter to him? It was impossible that he didn’t know I was human. He smelled my blood.
“You know that I’m a hu—” I stopped speaking when I looked at his hand.
My eyes widened when I saw it was covered in blood.
“Your hand is bleeding!”
“It’s fine.”
“No, it’s not. So let me treat it,” I said while holding his hand. I ignored the way he was staring at me while I treated his wound.
Even though it felt awkward, I continued treating the wound on his palm.
“They don’t know…” he whispered in my ear.
I held my breath.
“W-what don’t they know?”
“That you’re human…”
My heart was completely swallowed by fear as I looked at him with terrified eyes.
His jet-black eyes stared straight at me.
The corner of his lips lifted.
“And I’m the only one who knows that you’re human…”

Vladimir’s POV
I left her in the room after saying that because I was getting tempted by her blood again.
Blood greeted me with cold eyes as he looked at me.
“She’s not a vampire, Vlad.”
“And?”
“You should kill her, Vlad.”
“And why?”
Blood’s jaw tightened.
“Because if you don’t kill her, the council will decide her fate. Whether she lives or dies. But we both know what their answer will be.”
My fists clenched.
“Kill he—”
I punched him before he could finish what he was about to say.
Fvck that council!
They’ll have to go through me first before they can kill Adeline!
