Adeline’s POV
That welcome was terrifyingi got goosebumps because of his welcoming voice.
Aside from being deep and beautiful, it was scary. It felt like he was holding you back from living.
When I stepped out of my room, I noticed how quiet this place was. The entire house was painted pitch black—even the furniture was all black. The chandeliers were beautiful, though. I even felt like if one fell on me, I wouldn’t stand a chance. I’d be dead instantly.
I tried looking for the kitchen. This house is huge. Actually, I don’t think this is just a house—it feels more like a mansion.
I might even get lost just trying to find their kitchen. What the heck!
Should I ask someone? But I don’t see anyone in the hallway, not even in the corners.
This house feels so boring and lonely. Maybe the people living here are lonely too.
Finally! I saw someone. But unfortunately, it was a man. Well, there’s nothing wrong with asking him, right?
“Umh, hi can—”
“Don’t talk to me!” he suddenly said, making me jump in shock.
He faced me, and the frown on his forehead disappeared when he saw me. Suddenly, he smiled—a mischievous smile.
He’s good-looking, but he seems like a womanizer. He’s handsome, sure, but he looks like the type who toys with women.
“Hi, Miss. What is it?”
“Do you know where the kitchen is? I don’t know my way around. This house is so big.”
“Yeah, I know. Are you new here? I’ve never seen you before.”
“Yes, I just arrived earlier.” I think? I lost consciousness, after all.
“Do you know what you’ve gotten yourself into?” he suddenly asked. His expression turned serious, no more playfulness in his eyes and face.
“Yes.”
“Do you know what kind of people surround you? Do you know what I am?”
“Yes. You’re all vampires. But I’m not scared because I’m doing this for my siblings.”
He smirked, seemingly pleased with my answer. He nodded and slipped his hands into his pockets. He looked handsome when he did that, but I’m not going to develop any interest in him. I came here for my siblings’ needs.
“Just turn left after you walk straight down that path toward the stairs. Don’t go upstairs, okay? Stay on the ground floor.”
“Okay, thank you!”
I was about to leave when he spoke again.
“What’s your name? I’m Night, by the way. And I’m also harmless,” he said with a grin, even raising both hands like he was surrendering to the police.
“I’m Adeline, and I don’t think you’re harmless. You look like someone who likes flirting with many women.”
He laughed at what I said, and I left before I could get scolded.
When I reached the kitchen, I immediately felt a heaviness in the air. Almost all the maids, who were like me, were staring at me even while doing their tasks. I looked for the woman who had entered my room earlier and saw her avoiding my gaze while stirring something.
I smiled and approached her. As I walked, I could still feel their stares on me, as if I were prey they wanted to catch.
“Hello!”
She suddenly left when I greeted her.
So I just continued what she was mixing. With every movement I made, their eyes followed me. I couldn’t stop myself from feeling fear and nervousness.
I feel like I won’t have any friends in this place. The way they look at me, it’s like I’m an enemy and competition for attention.
“I’ll take that!” one of them suddenly said, slamming a plate down. Thankfully, it didn’t break.
None of them like my presence.
Even if I show kindness, I won’t become a good friend in their eyes.
Vladimir’s POV
“I ALREADY met her, Kuya. And she’s so pretty and—” Night quickly dodged the knife I threw at him.
Fvck, what a waste. I missed.
He looked at me in shock. “Damn, bro. Are you serious? You’re going to kill your own brother just because I think that girl is pretty?”
“She is mine, Night. So fvcking back off, you dumbass!”
“Really, bro? Owning her already?”
“What the fvck do you care?!” I asked irritably.
“Are you jealous, bro?” he asked teasingly.
“I’m not. But I already marked her.”
“What? You did it?” He suddenly turned serious.
“Are you crazy?!” he exclaimed when I didn’t answer him.
I just rolled my eyes at him and turned my back.
“Not totally, but she’s mine, Night. So please back off before I forget that you’re my brother,” I said coldly. And this is my last warning to him.
I know my little brother very well. I know every vein in his body. And I know what’s running through his mind right now.
He likes that woman. He’s thinking that once I mark her, the chaos from a decade ago will start all over again.
“I know my boundaries, bro. I hope you do too. Don’t let us lose someone important again because of your carelessness.”
Yeah, I know. It’s all my fault. I know it was my fault that the woman we both loved—the one I loved more—died.
“Master, breakfast is ready,” Huff interrupted.
“Can I eat?” Before I could even answer, Night was already gone from my sight.
I looked at Huff, who was staring at me.
“Master Blood will arrive tomorrow.”
Blood is next in line after me. He came from Europe. He’s searching for the woman he’s been waiting to be reborn in another body. It was his first love. And you know, first love never dies.
As I went down the stairs, my eyes searched among the lined-up maids. I finally stopped when I saw her.
She was looking at me. Out of all of them, she was the only one not bowing her head. It was like she was worshiping me. And I liked it.
She really is beautiful—her face so gentle, almost frightening to touch. I’m afraid I might hurt her. And oh, I really love her neck. I wanted to taste it, kiss it, and lick it.
When I finally sat in my chair, the maids served my food. But when I took a bite, I immediately spat it out and quickly moved away from it.
I held my mouth—it burned from the garlic.
“Who cooked this?!” I angrily demanded, and they all looked at the woman standing in the middle.
It was her, Adeline.
