Chapter 8: Green Mirage Town

The mile distance wasn't that far for Lara who had her strength and speed enhanced. Seeing the high imposing solid walls in the distance, Lara stopped distance away from the gate.

She saw a line qeueing to enter the town. Seeing this, Lara also qeue. Since she is new to the place, it won't harm to follow the rules. She also observed the people which most of them are ordinary people for she can't feel energy in them. They might be mortals.

With this she infer the cultivating to be warriors must have certain qualifications, and not all could step to the path. If everyone can then, she would not see ordinary people here.

There are also those like her, they emited energy in their body, they must be warriors. These warriors have weapons in there side, so most of the mortals distance themselves to them. She also felt that the people close to her spread out. She can infer that ordinary people might have misgivings towards warriors.

She also didn't see any mage in the line. She wanted to asked someone but it might look that she's foolish. She can only think that mage might be high rank in social stratum than warriors, they might have certain special passage to enter the town. An advantage per se.

As the line advances, she found out that the guards equipments, armor and weapons seems unordinary. She can feel fluactuations of energy from it. There strength also not to be underestimated she felt that they are strong especially the three above that look like they are overseeing things. Their strength seems to be on par to the Archer Wendy and her comrades. Lara keep this in mind.

She also perceived that to enter the town, one had to pay the gate toll, and it varies accordingly. To ordinary people only need to pay five copper coins, and to warriors one silver coin.

It appears that the guards could appraise a person whether they are mortals or warriors, even if warriors hid their energy.

Now she is sure that the currency of the world is copper, silver and gold, but she is unknowing of the exchange rate.

She only have gold coins, she is curious about the exchange rate of gold to silver.

It didn't take long for it is her turn. A guard look at her seem appraising her.

"Warrior. One silver coin." The guard stated in deep hoarse voice.

Acting calmly, Lara put the gold coin on the table. Then without a fuss, the guard picked the gold coin and exchange it with ninety-nine silver coins with a small wooden plaque.

"Next." The guard shouted.

With this she is able to enter the town. She walked to the gate, and when she entered she felt a passed something and the wooden plaque vibrated. She was amaze. She must have cross to a scanner, and the wooden plaque is a tool to allow her to pass through.

She conclude that the while town in envelope to an enchantment like she once read in the novels. And the wooden plaque is a key access.

Lara observed the wooden plaque, and Lara found lines forming a pattern from this, now this pattern seem to have lost half of its energy. She deduced this plague allow one to enter and exit the town, and after the energy is gone it will lost its function. So people can only use the plague one-time. After reflecting, she put it in here bag.

She walked slowly in the road watching the people entering stores and establishments. There are also street vendors selling tinkers on the street. The hustle and bustle made her in trance. The town looks prosperous and flourishing.

"Miss, do you need a guide." Suddenly a female voice sounded beside her.

Lara looked at the young woman who offered to guide. The girl look like seem to be fourteen years old. Wears in coarse but neat dress. She doesn't feel energy releasing from her, so this young girl might be a mortal.

Lara nodded and asked to the girl, "How much is your service?"

"Five copper coins, Miss." The girl answered with a smile as she lead Lara.

"I'm looking for a place to stay, and somewhere to inquire some information." Lara said to the girl. "By the way, what do I call you?"

The girl nodded and answered, "My name is Mila. As for a place to stay, if you like to stay at expensive lodgings it would be the Midnight Dream Hostel and White Rose Inn. They offer a satisfactory and brilliant service to their guest. The payment should be 50 silver to 1 gold coin. It was expensive so most of their guest are noble and high ranking people. But it you want a affordable accomodations I offer Candy's Inn. They also offer good accomodations not comparable to high level lodgings, but I can assure you it is a good place."

Lara nodded, it seems that the young girl Mila is familiar to the town, and Lara deduce that she had dealings with the Candy's Inn.

"Let's go and take a look to the lodgings you mentioned." Lara suggested.

So Mila lead Lara around the Mirage Green Town. As expected the town is like a fantasy town from a midieval era. The town is green full of vitality and freshness, as many flowering plants can be seen in the way which emanate fresh scent. Trees can also be seen which give shade to some areas, and gives cool air.

The building of the town, some are made of stones and some are build with hard woods each give off different feeling, still they look harmonious to each other.

Mila, on her side, introduce some of this buildings and establishment giving Lara enough knowledge of the place.

She is now is in the northeastern part of the town, most people in this area are ordinary people. Most of the warriors here are those whi came from adventuring from or those who will about to enter the Green Pass Forest. So she saw, many stores which sell armors, weapons, runes, and potions. There are also stores who collect preys which are hunted from the forest.

In the town she also saw establishments of guilds as such, Mercenary Guild for adventurers, Alchemist Guild to those who practice potion making, Rune Guild for talisman and rune making, and others.

But the most eyecatching of all is the Mage Guild, its fancy and imposing building, full of splendor and might. Just the building enough tells that the status of mage was higher than anyone. With this it seems that mage is a nobles profession and holds a lot of privilege.
