When I opened my eyes, I was Surrounded by unfamiliar faces and I got violent.
Warm blood spurted out of one nose as my fist made contact with it.
Another Lycan stumbled back, trying to avoid a blow, I threw myself at him, pounding on his face.
There was another coming behind me and as I turned and lunged for him, his arms clasped me in a strong hold and I stood staring up into his face, breathing heavily.
"That is enough, Selene."
He murmured as he watched me grow calm in his arms.
"You are safe. No one wants to hurt you. At least, not here."
Alpha Gregor Jint said as he let me stay some more minutes in his arms. But I soon stepped away from him.
" How am I here? You abducted me! "
I was accused. He shrugged.
" Can't say you are wrong. I saw how the bastard treated you so I had to bring you here with Mike. "
I took deep breaths to calm myself. He didn't know what trouble he had set me up for with the blackbone pack and of course, with Ulfric.
" I'm not supposed to be here. I should return to my pack as soon as possible."
I said to myself.
" Not so soon, darling."
He said and started towards the entrance of the tent.
" Don't try to hit anyone again and they will take you to your tent and help you settle. You are safe here."
The assurance was unusual and it warmed me to my core but I still could not make sense of how I was at the snowpack.
"How did you get me here?" I called just before he stepped out from the tent.
"Oh, I don't assume you will remember, seeing that you were unconscious when we took you."
I started to remember what had happened. While the fight was on, I had tried to help Mike flee and I had been hit by some force that I could not see.
"Apparently, one of your pack members didn't exactly like the fact that you were trying to help Mike escape so he had to make you stop."
He explained.
"I wonder why they love to hit you so much. You have a tough hide."
He said humorously before stepping out. I snorted.
"You all are strangers no matter how you try to be nice to me. No way I'm falling for your nonsense. "
I said. He did not hear.. but when I turned to those who were with me, I saw their huge eyes on me. They looked so tender and yet so strong.
" Where will my tent be? "
I asked.
" Just opposite the Alpha's. "
" You assume I know where the hell the Alpha's damn tent is? "
" We'll take you there. "
" Why would you take me to the Alpha's tent?! "
I snapped.
" I meant yours, lady. "
He said apologetically.
I nodded.
I needed to see the tent and know what way was best to leave the pack without showing everyone that I was leaving.
Later that day, I was left with a female to attend to my needs while two of the men stood outside the tent in case I needed any help.
Or worse, in case I needed to escape.
They were sure about not wanting to have me leave the pack.
"Alpha Greg says you have to have as much rest as you can. He says you will be safe here. You truly are. "
" I'm f*****g tired of hearing that. Who says I want your safety? "
I snapped at her.
" Well, everyone does need protection"
She insisted.
I took a deep sigh.
" Tell the men to f*****g leave the entrance of the tent. "
I said. She looked at me with amusement in her eyes.
" I can not, neither can they. The alpha asked them to stay there. He positioned them there by himself. "
Days passed at the Snowpack and I started to give up my plans of running away.
For the first time since I was mated to Ulfric Nus, Alpha King of the blackbone pack, I knew what it meant to enjoy peace.
I looked forward to evenings when Alpha Gregor Jint came to take me out for a leisurely run in the woods and show me how to swim in the large river that he found in the deepest part of the woods.
He held my hands tenderly in all of those times and said how beautiful my smile was and how strong my wolf, Millie, was.
I started to grow attracted to Alpha Gregor without even trying.
He spoke little and in those times he had small conversations with me, he mentioned that his small pack had to move into the woods after their pack was found out by human hunters and they started to kill some of them.
It touched me. I noted how everyone was treated equally at the pack and how they all had white wolves.
I was well aware of the mate bond between alpha Ulfric Nus and I which would always leave me stuck with him unless the mate bond was broken by a rejection from one of us.. an action that might cause death.
The next day, Alpha Gregor did not come to take me out for a run in the woods so I went alone.
"Finally, Selene. So here you are."
I heard a voice say behind me as I reached the river that alpha Gregor took me on some nights.
It was alpha Ulfric and his beta, Grim Knot.
"You ran away with the alpha of the snowpack, an enemy pack because I hit you?"
"How did I even run away when I was unconscious?"
I asked.
"You are returning with us now to where you belong."
"I can't follow you right away," I started to protest, but it didn't go beyond my lips when Ulfric whisked me off my feet.
"Let her go, now!"
A voice in the bushes commanded.
