The Questioning.

Chief Cox relieved me off my handcuffs by the direct order of the DAC. MR SILAS. “So let me get this straight, though you never applied for a promotion you have been eligible for a promotion 3 times in a row. “ He said looking at me , his eye lids calm but his gaze sharp. “Y..yes sir…(clears throat.)” How do I explain what happened? I mean who’s going to believe me when I say a human shape shifted into a human with more hair and longer claws like a semi werewolf of some sort, Who will believed the magic of that story, ohh God I’m so f****d. “which you then proceeded to decline all of these promotions even though you were the most suitable for the position, and your excuse or to put it respectfully, Your reason like you said on paper was, (This is blind luck, I don’t work as much as much as a lot of people here, I do not deserve or concur with this promotion.) …right?” “yes sir” I said nodding, regaining my composure but panicking inside. “I see, well, in my opinion I don’t call that chivalry or whatever you think, in my opinion that is bullshit, When your position is given to you, it is given to you because the chief thinks you are the best person to fill that position rather than your peers, you have no right to reject. This proves that you are disrespectful and wayward to your own chiefs commands and leadership, now because Cox is a friend of mine whom I have known for ages, I will let this slide but what I cannot overlook is how or rather what took place in Delamere forest yesterday.” He said, his palms interlocked as his gaze watched my every reaction. This man was straight up looking into my soul. Chief Cox has been real quiet since he started talking, it’s not like he can do anything. This is the man who can legit send him out of office, he looks so simple yet his stares and questions are challenging. “sir, what happened at Delamere was a tragedy, a tragedy I was also involved in, I know protocol is demanding you question me so I will tell you all I remember, we arrested a man from a*****e, he was resilient, so resilient that we had to use flash bangs to subdue him, calling in the backup team, I knew this was not just an average civilian but then at the same time What can I say? This was just a hunch. A mere feeling, heading to the secret confinement we had right at the ending of Delamere forest, we were attacked and it rendered me unconscious. Now waking up, all I could see was the van born to a crisp and two officers brutally killed. Then I headed down hill, and that’s all.” I said, not shifting my gaze from Mr. Silas, not even blinking. Then he smiled, like he knew I would say that. “You see, you are right, all you are saying adds up, but why did only you survive out of everybody who was in that van? This is a question even I cannot answer, was it luck, ohh wait no, was it because of how skilled you are as a Sergeant? The questions continue to pile up but here I am. Asking you now, and you are telling me what I already know.” Mr. Silas said, standing up. “I wasn’t lucky, frankly I don’t even know how I survived, but when you found me was I not beat up? I don’t know anything about this, you really have to believe me.” I explained as I looked at chief but even he wasn’t convinced. “I have to believe you? Ohh really I have to believe you? OK then, can someone f*****g explain to me how the remaining footage of CCTV camera became corrupted just after seeing the suspects face? he walked into the store, messy hair everywhere, going between aisles then looks up sees the camera before you came in pointing a gun telling him to drop everything and go on his knees but then boom next frame corrupted file corrupted file upon corrupted file, it all went blank, meanwhile every other day it's been working fine I’m sorry but I can’t believe what you have to say.” Mr. Silas said his face unwavering, his anger obvious, he really won’t let me off the hook so easily. “Alright then, alright then fine, you asked all questions but did you ask this. Why would I be his accomplice and take him to one of our most secure confinements in the whole city. If I was working with him why didn’t I just arrest him and while he was unconscious let him be in the hospital? Following protocol, I called everyone to ask for permission for me to go there and nobody returned my calls neither did they pick them, you can also search your phones and you see my missed calls, I called the precinct. There was no answer, you can check my phone. All I could get were the people around me, this person was unstable so I decided I would take this person to our secret confinement and leave it to the Metropolitan Police to do whatever they want to do for it is not my concern. If truly I was his accomplice why will I put him in your hands instead of taking him away from your hands? I had no idea what was going on, all I did was follow protocol and even though I broke it, I did it for the greater good, I did it because I wanted the case to be solved. Tell you what, I saw a human who withstood several flash bangs, that does not belong in just any prison in my opinion. but I guess I was too quick to make my decision. So I am here and I am saying, whatever punishment you decide to give me, I will take, I am not afraid, after all I know I have done nothing wrong.” I said concluding my explanation, chief face lightened up but Mr. Silas. He looked irritated, but still he smiled. “Alright then, very good, note that you will be under serious supervision but for now you are free to go.” He said as he looked at Chief Cox. The chief nodded slightly as he stepped outside with him. My face unyielding and serious. Until they left the room. “HHHHHhhhhhhh” I exhaled deeply. I knew what I had done, I knew the gravity of the lies I had just told, but I don’t trust anyone and I f*****g pray this guy was worth me risking my career or else. I will kill him myself.
