Chapter 1

591 Words
"What's it like to sleep with a blind woman?" The moment my vision cleared, I was moved to tears. The first person I wanted to share this with was Loren, so, ignoring my doctor’s advice, I headed straight to the private lounge where he and his friends usually gathered. My hand touched the door, and that was the first thing I heard. I thought I had misheard, but Loren’s next words shattered me, plunging me into an abyss of despair. He sat there, a cigarette hanging from his lips, his expression languid. "Want to know? I'll let you have a go. She's blind anyway; she won't know who it is. She'll just open her legs and enjoy it. Or better yet, next time we’re at it, you guys can come and watch. She won't see a thing." "Don't joke, Loren. Fina has such a hot body, how could you be willing to share?" "Exactly. Who knew? She looks so flat in her clothes, but she’s stacked under them. And she’s absolutely shameless in bed." A wave of laughter filled the room. So, he really had taken photos that night—and not just that night; only the shutter sound from that particular evening had been the one I’d noticed. I remembered what Loren had said then. He’d bitten my earlobe, whispering that it was just a hallucination from the pleasure, before pulling me into an even deeper whirlpool of desire. Tears welled up in my eyes, though the soreness in my recovering eyes pulled me back to reality. Loren’s voice, careless and indifferent, drifted out again. "I’ve been too busy chasing Rosa these days to pay attention to Fina. Do whatever you want with her, just don't go too far." Rosa—my half-sister. They were actually together. Suddenly, the door swung open from the inside, and I saw Eddie, Loren’s lackey. I was grateful that I couldn't handle bright light yet, as my sunglasses hid my tear-stained eyes. "Fina, what are you doing here?" Eddie asked, his expression shifting as he worried about whether I’d overheard their conversation. I didn't want to reveal that I had regained my sight right now. My eyelashes fluttered rapidly behind my sunglasses. If Loren were looking at me now, he’d definitely catch my panic; after all, we’d known each other for nearly twenty years. I forced myself to suppress my emotions. "It's late, and Loren isn't home yet. I came to look for him. Is he inside?" Eddie relaxed at my question and called into the room, "Loren! Fina really can't be away from you for a moment, can she? She came running the second you didn't show up." If this were before, I would have blushed at the teasing tone. But now, I saw the blatant contempt on Eddie’s face clearly. It made the mocking words impossible to blush over; instead, it made my blood boil. Loren stood up from the crowd and gestured for his friends to shut up. They took the hint immediately. So, this was what it was like behind my back when I couldn't see. My body trembled uncontrollably. The feeling of betrayal and humiliation seeped into every bone in my body. Loren walked over to me, seemingly sensing my mood. "What's wrong? Are you not feeling well?" He delivered the words with an empty expression. I looked at Loren’s handsome face, the same one from five years ago. My eyes burned, but I found the situation laughable. Why don't you try acting, Loren? You're missing your true calling.
