Chapter 52: Glowing
Matthew demanded to have coffee with me, early in the morning, before my classes started. We met alone at Renegade’s Beans, one of the city’s diamonds in the rough. New to Pittsburgh and less populated in the mornings, but growing a reputation with lightning speed for being one of the best coffee shops around. We sat across from each other at a small square table for three people.
I immediately asked, “Where’s Aiden?”
“He spent the night with his mother.”
“You’re a responsible father. Glad to know that. It’s another reason why I like you.”
He sipped at a caramel latte, and I enjoyed a dark roast from Cambodia. It wasn’t even seven o’clock in the morning, but neither of us seemed to care and continued our chat.
