Chapter 55: Puppy Love
Little Colby wanted a date with me, just the two of us, which I accepted.
His father told me in private after dropping his son off at my Tudor, “He trusts your opinions and needs a question or two answered. You’re his guru of information that he doesn’t want to share with me.”
I chuckled. “Kids can be fun. Fathers need to be in the loop, and I’ll let you know what’s going on in his small world.”
“I’d appreciate that, Paul. Thanks for caring. And thanks for being his friend. We both trust and respect you.”
Dugan left me alone with Colby, driving away. He said he had some grocery shopping to do and wanted to run a few errands. Dugan gave Colby four hours with me. And afterwards, the three of us would do dinner together at a pizza pub that Colby loved.
