Chapter 40: The Other Side
I didn’t enjoy The Other Side like other queer bars in the city. I chose Under and Woodville. But, for maybe once in her life, Faye was right. The Other Side seemed like a good fit for Matthew Hildebrand to meet a nice guy, have a date with him, and maybe become physical. Under and Woodville catered to wild drunks, horny older men, and hustlers; men from untasteful corners of the city that he didn’t need to become involved with.
The Other Side operated two bars and dance floors. The bartenders and staff wore white polos and tight jeans. They were gentlemen and ladies, trained to treat all patrons with respect. Taking drugs and having s*x could be found at Under and Woodville, but not The Other Side. Some called the bar The Mormon Side, since it’s two gay owners
