Rose POV
When Remus stepped back and a couple walked in, I felt like I was looking in a mirror. Remus and his brother looked exactly like the women except their skin tone which matches the man but both of them are the most good looking people I have ever seen. I didn’t realize I was staring too much until someone cleared their throat.
“Everyone. I’d like to introduce you to mine, Nico’s and Rose's parents. This is our mom Rossella and our dad Raul.” Like Remus and Nico looking like the women I now know is their mom, I noticed that I looked like their dad; we have the same eyes and I’m pretty sure if my hair wasn’t dyed right now, I would look like a female mini version of him. As we were staring at each other, it all clicked in my head when Remus and Nico said I looked just like him, this is the guy they were talking about; their dad or should I say our dad… This can’t be happening.
“Hello everyone, it’s nice to meet you all.” Rossella has this elegant, motherly aura to her but also felt like she can set you straight when the times comes.
“It’s nice to meet you too and don’t take this the wrong way or anything but what are you doing here?” Phoebe is definitely just like her mother; always straight to the point but that’s why she amazing.
“Phoebe..”
“I’m just wondering. They don’t even know Rose so why are they here? Just because Remus and Nico are?”
“Yes we’re here for Remus and Nico but we’re also here for Rose.”
“Why?” I took a deep breath.
“Because they’re my real parents…”
“What? What are you talking about?”
“Do I really have to explain it to you? I mean the proof is standing right in front of us for Christ’s sake!” I know they see that Raul and I basically look the same but unlike me, they don’t want to believe it but I honestly don’t care anymore; Ruby and Sebastian never acted like loving parents to me, not once. If these people are my so called real parents then so what.
“You may look like them and they may or not be your real parents but how do you know for sure?”
“Because they look like me and I look like them! That’s obviously a sign that I’m related to them in some way! Stop trying to think differently!” I’m honestly getting frustrated with everything and everyone and the monitors that I’m hooked up to are telling everyone too. The heart and blood pressure monitor started going crazy and sadly, it alerts Dr. Blair, who comes running in a minute later.
“What is going on in here!? Why are there more people in here? Do you have any relations to Ms. Meyers? If not, I’m going to have to ask you to leave.” he walks over to me, checks my vitals and everything before pressing some buttons on the monitor, making it go back to normal as everyone breathes a sigh of relief except me.
“Care to tell me what happened, Ms. Meyers? And who those people are? Are they your parents, Ruby and Sebastian?” my ‘parents’ didn’t look happy at the fact that they were being thought of different people.
“We are her parents, her real ones.” Raul said a little too confidently in my opinion. Dr. Blair looked between me and them before stopping on me and nodding.
“I can see the resemblance if I’m being honest...”
“What!? They aren’t her parents and even if they were, where have they been for the last 16 years, huh?!” great; now Phoebe is getting worked up and I don’t need nor want that right now. I grabbed her hand and pulled her down to sit next to me, telling her to calm down.
“You want me to calm down when this s**t is happening!? Are you serious right now Rose!? Why are you so calm!? You just found out that the people you thought were your parents aren’t. How can you be so calm!?”
“Because Phoebe! Why would I waste my time crying more tears that I don’t have for people who never once treated me like their daughter! Going on trips around the world while I was stuck at the house! Working multiple jobs to support myself because they sure as hell weren’t even trying! I was more considered a maid than a daughter to them; cleaning, cooking, and I never got so much as a thank you or good job from them! So tell me Phoebe, why should I give a damn about people who don’t care about me!? Huh!?” I was pissed, hungry, and tired of life and everything around me. I looked around the room, looks of pity, sympathy, and nervousness was on everyone’s faces and that just pissed me off more. I looked down and saw that thankfully I was still in my clothes that I came in and not in one of those hospital gowns. I looked at the machines and tubes that I was hooked up to and saw there was quite a few; damn… this is going to hurt. I took off the blood pressure cuff around my left arm before ripping out the IV and everything connected to the machines.
Said machines started going crazy, causing Dr. Blair to spring forward and try to stop me. Everyone started shouting, trying to get me to stop but I just swatted their hands away and glaring at everyone.
When I ripped IV out of my arm, I think I pulled a little too hard because now my arm is bleeding and on an empty stomach; this isn’t a good thing. I grabbed some gauze, folding my arm to hold it in place while I grabbed some medical tape, tearing off 4 pieces and placing them on the each side of the square piece of gauze before flinging off the blankets and standing up. I had to grab the bed because of the wave of dizziness that I got, closing my eyes for a little before opening them and walking towards the door. As I got closer to the door, my “parents” guards got closer to me, thinking I was going to hurt their boss to which I rolled my eyes.
“You can relax boys, I’m not going to attack them and even if I was, you wouldn’t be able to stop me. Now move.”
“I’m sorry miss but we can’t let you leave. We all just want to make sure you stay in bed and that you get better.” I couldn’t help but laugh as I looked at all the guys. They looked at me curiously but I couldn’t stop laughing which yet again lead to me holding my side and wheezing. Phoebe, Drake and basically everyone in the room came towards me but I stepped away from them. “I’m fine” I wheezed out as I try to catch my breath before looking at all the bodyguards; there was maybe 10 to 15 of them here in the room and maybe another 10 on this floor guarding all the entrances, exits and most definitely the elevators. “Listen guys, I really don’t want to hurt you but I will if you don’t move in the next minute. So either move or get your asses kicked by a girl; you choose.” I turned to Dr. Blair before asking him to bring my release papers so I could sign them myself.
“I’m sorry, Ms. Rose but I can’t have you sign them; they need to be signed by a guardian or parent since you are underage.”
“Bring me the release papers please. I don’t have any parents and the closest people that are guardians are Phoebe’s parents and I know they won’t sign them. So if you would be so kind as to go grab the papers and bring them to me; I will sign them and be out of your hair in the next half hour to hour. Now boys, have you made a decision? Hopefully the right one?”
“Like we said miss, we can’t let you leave.”
“Have it your way then, just remember I gave you all a choice and you chose the wrong one.” I ran forward before punching the guy in the face. He stepped back, shocked from the power of it, before I knelt down and spun my body, sweeping my leg under his as he fell to floor. The other guys started coming towards me, Raul yelling in the background to stand down and not hurt me; hearing that caused me to smile. If big bad Baxter can’t even beat me, then these guys don’t stand a chance. About 3 or 4 of them stopped but rest ignored their boss as they came at me all at once, surrounding me. Smart, I thought; they are trying to limits my moves but boy are they in for a rude awakening. As the ones in front started walking forward to cage me in, the ones behind me ran forward and tried to grab me but I ducked down and slid myself out between their legs before kicking them in the backs of their knees.
As they fell to the floor groaning, I made a run for the door and almost reached the handle before an arm circled my waist, causing me to wince at the slight pressure on my ribs. I looked behind me and saw what I think is the captain of the group holding me.
“Stop fighting, Miss Rose and go back to the bed. Please. We don’t want to hurt you.”
“Funny I said the same thing yet here we are. I’m leaving whether you all like it or not.” I headbutted him, hearing him groan before I broke out of his hold, turning around and punching him in the side. He fell to the floor as I saw a guy behind him; he tried to grab me but I backed up before doing a roundhouse kick and running to the door. I opened it and ran down the hall to the receptionists desk, smiling while I asked for release papers.
“Go get her and bring her back but make sure not to hurt her!” As she gave to them to me and I signed them, I saw in the corner of my eye they guys running down the hallway; I signed the last paper and smiled at her again before running to the door leading to the stairs. The guys that were guarding it saw me and tried to stop me but like before, I slid under their legs before getting up and running to the door; throwing it open and running down the stairs.
The sounds of footsteps echoed throughout the stairwell as I continued to run down the stairs faster; being on the eighth floor sucks a lot. When I got to floor four, I started jumping down multiple stairs, earning me some distance from the guard group. I pulled my phone from my pocket, amazed that I didn’t lose it through all this crap, before calling a uber. With the uber being ten minutes away, I had to book it so when I finally got to the lobby; I was so happy. Now I just have to get to the uber, get to the house, pack some bags; making sure to pack one with all my school and work stuff before going to a hotel since I can’t stay in that house. I cracked open the door and peaked out in time to see Phoebe’s and my fake parents walk onto the elevator before running out as the door fully closed; since they are here I won’t have any trouble getting into the house and packing my stuff. Luckily I took the week off from school because having to go to the house to get the clothes would be a pain in the ass. My phone was buzzed off the hook in my hand, looking down, most of them were from Phoebe, her parents and brothers. I scrolled through them to the ones from the last few minutes and saw one from the cab driver saying that they were here. I looked up as the sound of foot steps got closer and closer before taking a deep breath and running out of the stairwell, slowing to a walk as I got to the lobby but ran out the door when I got to it and jumping in the uber; I gave him Ruby and Sebastian’s address and told him to step on it. I looked behind me and watched that as we were getting closer to the corner, all the guys ran out and were looking around frantically. I watched as Raul, Rossella, Phoebe’s parents, my friends, everyone came out after looking around just as frantically. Before my line of sight was cut off, I saw Phoebe yelling at everyone most likely telling to shut up or be quiet before she brought her phone up to her ear. My phone started buzzing and sure enough, her contact lit up my screen; the pic we took one year at the fair with our faces painted with designs as the contact photo looking back at me. I knew I should answer her and as long as I keep my voice steady and even, she shouldn’t be able to guess anything. Taking a deep breath, I hit answer and brought it up to my ear.
“Fee”
“ROSE! ARE YOU INSANE!? WHERE THE HELL ARE YOU?! HOW COULD YOU RUN OUT OF THE GOD DAMN HOSPITAL IN YOUR CONDITION!”
“Fee” I’m guessing she put the phone on speaker because now everyone is yelling at the phone, making me have to pull it away from my ear.
“ROSE! WHERE ARE YOU!?”
“ARE YOU OK!?”
“WHERE ARE YOU?!” Drake and all the guys took turns yelling into the phone as I brought it back to me.
“I’m guessing I’m on speaking since all of you are being loud as hell. Holy Mars Rover, I don’t think the entire solar system heard you guys yet.”
“This is not the time for jokes Rose.”
“There will always be time for jokes Fee, you yourself should know that full well.”
“Whatever. Where are you? And don’t even think about lying to me; I’ll know if you do.” I rolled my eyes and sat back against the seat, looking at the window as I watched trees and buildings pass by.
“Are you auditioning for the role of my mom now? How many ‘moms’ am I going to have? Two? Three? I must be the luckiest girl in the world; to have so many mothers while everyone else has none to one.” I know I’m being a b***h and all but how would you feel and act if the people you thought were your parents your whole life actually weren’t?
“Rose… I know that this has been nothing but a really shitty day but you need to come back to the hospital, ok? You’re not in the best condition to be running around right now.”
“Ha! When have I ever been in the ‘best condition’ Fee? Never.” I sighed and layed my head against the seat. “Look I just need some time to myself right now ok? Yes it’s been a shitty day and that’s why I need to be alone. Raul? Are you there listening?” I heard shuffling before he spoke up.
“I’m here.”
“I’m sorry I beat up your bodyguards.” a couple people started chuckling before clearing their throats, my guess would be Raul and his sons.
“It’s ok. From the looks of it, they were in need of the practice. Not that it’s important right now, but how do you know how to fight that good?”
“Raul!”
“What? I’m just wondering! Ok I’m sorry”
“Anyway… like I said I just want to be alone right now. Goodbye.”
“Rose wai-...” I hung up before anyone could say anything, sighing yet again before looking out the window; I’m almost to the house.
When the uber turned onto the street where the house was, I was feeling a little nervous for some reason. Would there be guys there too? Would I have to fight them too just to get in? My thoughts were interrupted by the car pulling into the drive. Mine, Drake’s and the twins car still parked in front of the house. I put my phone in my pocket and opened the door before stepping out. Closing the door I walked to the passenger window and motioned for the driver to roll the window down; when he did I leaned down so he could see and hear me.
“Hi. So my wallet is in the house, if you want to walk to the front door with me I can get you the money to give you a tip. Is that ok?” no harm in being nice even though my card was already charged for the ride.
“Sure. One sec.” he put the car in park and turned it off before he got out and started walking to the door with me. Luckily there wasn’t any guys guarding the house as we walked up to the door. Something rustled the bushes next to the house, making the guy turn and look which gave me enough time to grab the spare key from it’s hiding spot and open the door just in time for him to turn around.
“Do you want to wait inside while I get the money? Or do you want to wait outside?”
“Is it ok if I wait inside? It’s a little hot out here.” I nodded and let him in before telling him to wait as I run up to my room. I have maybe half an hour to an hour before everyone comes here to look for me. I grab a 20 out of my wallet and run downstairs, giving it him even when he says its too much. When he leaves, I put the spare key back in its spot before grabbing my backpack that was on the entry table and running back to my room. I set my bag on my bed before running into my closet and grabbing all three of my suitcases and two big duffel bags; I’m not sure how long I’ll be away for but at this point, that’s not what I’m worrying about. If everyone shows up, I’ll never be able to leave. Since I’m the one who bought all of my clothes, accessories, electronics, furniture, everything; Ruby and Sebastian have no say in what I can and can’t take.
Opening all my suitcases, I run around my closet throwing in all kinds of clothes and shoes before taking my jewelry box and putting in with them before closing the two suitcases they filled up. In the third one, it had the rest of my shoes so I walked into the bathroom before grabbing my make-up bag and putting all my makeup in it before grabbing my to-go bag and putting my toothbrush, toothpaste, everything I would need and 2 bottles each of my shampoo and conditioner and putting them in the third suitcase and took to the first aid bag I put together, adding it in there too as well as about 6 things of hangers that I got at the dollar store. I took one of the duffel bags and ran into my room to my desk, putting all my books, notebooks, binders and pencil cases filled with all kinds of pencils, pens, highlighters before grabbing my pencil boxes that have extra lead, erasers, and sticky notes in them and putting them in the duffel bag before packing up my laptop, tablet and all their charging cords and accessories. I ran back into my closet and grabbed the other duffel bag and put all my work uniforms and everything I would need for my tutoring sessions in before closing that and putting it by the door too. I made sure all the suitcases were shut and zipped up before taking them out of the closet and setting them down. I ran to my desk again and unlocked the drawer I keep locked, taking out a locked box that I keep extra cash in. Opening it, I count how much I have, coming to about 9 grand; a lot I know but I’ve been saving from all the babysitting, tutoring, and jobs I work. If that shocks you, you don’t even want to know how much I have in my savings account at my bank. What’s awesome is that the account is completely under my name and no one can get into because I made sure that there is a crap ton of security on my account that not even Ruby or Sebastian can claim they can use it because I’m their daughter; not. Putting the box in the bag with my uniforms, I walk over to my bed and grab my wall port and charging cord for my phone before grabbing about 6 of my favorite books, putting them in the bag also.
I grabbed all the bags and took them to my car before going up to my room, grabbing my wallet, bag and account book before running back downstairs. As I’m pulling out of the drive, I put my sunglasses on and look at the dash, seeing that it’s 2:30; maybe I’ll just get an apartment instead of staying in a hotel. I pulled into a gas station while looking for an apartment; I found a two bed, two bath that was close to school, my jobs and the gym so I called to see if it was still available and it was. New apartment here I come!
When I got to the building, a couple in their early 40s, Emily and Danny, was waiting outside. After locking my car, I walked up to them and they lead me up to the apartment and chatted on the way up.
“Oh my, you’re so young. Why are you looking for an apartment when your 16? What about your parents?”
“I just found out the people I thought were my parents really aren’t.”
“Oh I’m so sorry, sweetie. What about your biological parents? Do you know who they are?” I laughed softly before answering.
“Yes, in fact I met them today as well as my older brothers.”
“Wow so you’ve had a very eventful day, haven’t you?”
“You could say that.” we got to the apartment and they opened it up and I was surprised to see it fully furnished which I was thankful for; that meant I didn’t have to have all the furniture from the house brought over but the stuff I don’t being over will be going into storage. They let me walk around and the more I did, the more I fell in love. The kitchen had marble counters, and state of the art appliances while the living room had a 70 inch Samsung smart TV with a sound bar above a fireplace and the most comfortable L-shaped couch I’ve ever sat on which also turned into a pull-out bed; sweet. There was a balcony that had the most beautiful view of the city I have ever seen. I looked at the spare room and it was cute with a king sized bed but I loved the master bedroom. It had a walk-in closet that put the one at the house to shame and it had a separate area for my shoes; not to mention it was three-times the size of my old room. The bathroom was done in black marble tile and had a Jacuzzi tub and a walk-in shower with multiple shower heads with a dual sink. Walking back into the room, I saw that there was a vanity on the far side and California king bed. I went and sat on the bed and oh my goddess, it felt like I was sitting on clouds. When I was going back to living room, I noticed that there was another door down the hallway on the other side of the living room.
“What’s that room?”
“It’s an office.” no. way. I ran and opened the door and fell in love all over again. The walls were a mint color with gold trimmings, had two huge bookcases against the wall across from the door and a sofa/chair set. Walking over to the desk, I could see that it was also marble as I ran my fingers over it. I sat in the office chair and it was so comfy. I have my own office I thought to myself. This is so amazing!! I walked back over to Emily and Danny and I couldn’t stop smiling.
“How do you like the apartment, Rose?”
“I love it!! How much a month is it to stay in this amazing place?” I slowly spun around, taking in the apartment before turned to face them again to find them looking at each other.
“What? What is it? Is it already sold?” I tried to hide my disappointment as I waited for them to answer.
“No it’s available but the thing is… this apartment is about 1200 a month. But hearing what you’ve been through, we are going to reduce it for you.” what?
“I can pay the full amount, so you don’t have to do that.”
“We know we don’t have to but we want to. We’ve both been where you are Rose so we know what you’re going through and we know how hard it is dealing with this kind of stuff. Danny and I were 18 and had just graduated from high school when we both found out from our families and went through it. But you’re 16 and we know it’s a lot to deal with.” I was about to ugly cry in front of this nice couple.
“Thank you guys so much.. I can’t tell you how much this means to me. I just… thank you. How much do I owe you guys?” I got my wallet out and was about to walk with them the office when Danny waved his hand.
“We can deal with that later, right now let’s get you settled in first ok?” I nodded my head and we walked out, Danny locking up the room again before going to the elevator. When we got outside, a strong gust of wind start to blow, making my shirt lift up a bit to show my torso before I quickly pulled it back down.
“Rose? Is someone beating you?”
“No!”
“Then why is there a huge scar on your back? It looks fresh too.” dang it! I was hoping they didn’t see it.
“It’s nothing, really. I’m ok. I’m handling it.”
“We don’t believe you. But if you ever need to talk about anything at all, we’re always here for you.”
“Thanks you guys. You are some of the sweetest people I have ever met. I mean it.”
“Haha well we try. Now let’s go get your stuff and when we get you settled in then we’ll talk about the topic of how much the apartment is and then you can relax. Sound good?” I nodded and started walking to my car. “Good. Let’s do this!”
