Chapter Ten:

1006 Words
Adam POV We all watched Rose walk out of the office, grabbing her assignments off of Krissy’s desk before going the direction of the library. After a few minutes, we saw her walk out the front door, waiting and listening as as the door closed before anyone said anything. “I swear that girl doesn’t have a brain or anything useful sometimes.” “Phoebe!” “What!? It’s true and you know it, Ang! Don’t yell at me because I’m stating the truth!” “It may be the truth but you didn’t need to say it out loud.” “Whatever. We should hurry before she drives herself. We still need to get our books and stuff right? We need want to hurry before she does drive herself.” we all walked out and saw 4 books on Krissy’s desk with a note on it. Here are your copies of Gatsby. I’ll be outside, better hurry or I’m leaving without all of you. Rose The boys and Phoebe each grabbed a book before running to their lockers and grabbing their stuff. Ang, Krissy and I waited by the door for them but I couldn’t help but be worried about Rose. She hasn’t had a panic attack that severe for at least 4 years. As the they came running back to us, Krissy handed them their homework for the day, I turned and saw Rose walking over to us as they put their homework and the book in their bags. We walked out and I opened my arms as Rose got closer and couldn’t help but feel happy when she walked right into them and hugged me tightly. “I’m sorry.” “For what?”  “For snapping. It’s been happening a lot more lately and I don’t know why. Maybe the thought of my parents coming home is the reason? School? Work? I have no idea and I’m sorry for snapping at you. All of you. I’m sorry” I was about to say something before I was pushed away from her. Me being protective, I went into a defensive position only to see it was Phoebe squeezing the life out of Rose. I relaxed a bit but pulled Phoebe away slightly; the girl has some serious strength and the way she is squeezing Rose, she just might break a few ribs. Rose took a deep breath while wrapping her arms around herself. “Why does everyone keep pulling me away from my best friend!? The next person who pulls me away, I’m going to sucker punch them!” “We keep pulling you away because you don’t know your own strength most of the time, Fee. She’s already injured and with that strength of yours, you could actually break her ribs and we don’t want that; do you?” she looked so sad as she mumbled no; cue Rose. Just as I thought it, Rose walked over and brought Phoebe in for a hug. When it comes to the people she loves being sad, she can’t help but want to comfort them.  “It’s ok Fee. I know your strength not only comes from you kindness and compassion for others but also you’re strong will and protectiveness; I love all of that about you so I know you mean well but let’s save the crushing hugs for after I’m healed, ok?”  “Ok… I’m sorry for hurting you” Rose smiled as she pushed Phoebe to arms length and wiped away some tears that I didn’t know were falling. “Don’t cry. I know you’re just worried about me and it came out a little stronger than normal; it’s ok. How about we go get some food? Will that make you feel better?” “I’m supposed to be cheering you up, not the other way around…” “So you don’t want food? No pancakes? No chicken nuggets? Ok, we’ll just go to my house then.” “No! I want food!” the girls giggled as us guys just stood there not knowing what to do. I looked at the boys and they had the same confused expression I did.  “Come on guys. We’re going to get food! What’s everyone hungry for?” we looked over to see Phoebe running over to her car while Rose walked over to hers. The boys walked over to Rose with me while Phoebe put her stuff in her car and walked back over to us.  “I guess it’s a good thing we took the same car today huh, bro?”  “You’re just saying that because you get to ride with Phoebe because you like her.” “Shut up! Don’t say it so loud or she’ll hear!”  “It’s pretty obvious Alex. I think the whole group besides Phoebe knows that you like her.” “Not everyone. Rose doesn’t..” “Wrong. I knew it right away.” we looked up and saw her leaning against her car with her arms wrapped around her.  “What? Am I that obvious!?” “When it comes to Phoebe; yes.” “Whatever” “You guys ready to head out? What’s wrong?” “Nothing Fee. How does everyone feel about Red Robin? Good? Cool let’s go. Bye Adam! Remember if there are any new assignments for my classes, please bring them over to me.” I nodded and waved as they all walked over to their cars.
