Drake POV
I hate mornings. I made a mental note to beat Baxter’s ass the next time I see him. I would’ve done it before I left but I’m just too damn tired. Baxter is the owner of Onyx Gym; the best and biggest state of the art gym in Angel Crest. He called me at about 3:30 am and asked me to meet him at the gym to help him and his guys unload some equipment for a new workout room; one of many to come according to what Baxter has been telling me.
I yawned for the hundredth time since I got here at 4. I shook my head, trying to shake off some of my tiredness. I walked out of the gym and started heading to my car when I ran right into someone. Out of habit, I wrapped one of my arms around them to help stop them from falling. Judging by the slim waist I had my arm wrapped around, it was a girl.
“Sorry about that. You good?” she didn’t answer at first.
“Yeah. I’m fine. Not like it’s the first time that I almost hit the floor nor would it be the last.” her voice is so sweet but I didn’t miss that last part she mumbled. She tried moving out of my grasp but I tightened my grip on her waist and brought her closer to me. I was very much aware of how her hands were resting on my chest and I liked having them there; I didn’t want to let go of her just yet. “Um… can y-” I cut her off.
“What did you mean?”
“It’s rude to interrupt people, you know.” I felt the edges of my mouth tilt up in a smirk but stopped it just as quickly.
“I never said I was nice, sweetheart. Now, what did you mean by this wasn’t the first or last time you almost hit the floor?” I felt her tense up when I said the nickname and that got my interest just like the earlier statement did I agreed to let her go if she told me what she meant by her statement but I wasn’t expecting the answer she gave me. She’s clumsy? I doubt that’s the real answer but again since I don’t know her, I can’t really force her to tell me the truth.
“I told you now let me go, while I’m asking nicely…” I tried not to laugh at that one but I couldn’t help it. I start to loosen my grip but I cant help wonder who this fiery mysterious girl is. As she started to move away from me, I just had to know. I reached up and pulled her hood down and watched as her hair fell and cascaded down her back; I really wanted to run my fingers through it. A brown color with highlights and waist length, it looked like it was meant for her and it suited her perfectly. Her face was angled down so I couldn’t see her face but a few strands of hair blew in the wind; I reached down and tucked them behind her ear. I put my finger under her chin and lifted it up; coming face to face with the most beautiful girl I have ever seen. Her chocolate brown eyes stared back at me; I didn’t move, hell I think I even stopped breathing for a second as I stared into her eyes. I started to ask her something but realized something; since we’ve never met until now I had no idea what her name was.
“What’s your name, gorgeous?” Normally I don’t like saying pet names but it feels different when I said it to her. However, when I said it she glared at me; you would think I would be angry, quite the opposite actually; it just piqued my interest even more. I smirked and was about to bring her closer to me when she broke out of my embrace completely, much to my dismay.
“Ok. Let’s get some things straight, buddy.” My smirk grew while I arched an eyebrow and was about to interrupt while reaching for her but stopped when she took a step back. I was full on smiling like a Cheshire cat by now and did a little gesture saying to continue. “I am by no means at all your sweetheart, gorgeous, nothing; so don’t call me any of those stupid pet names guys like you use when you can’t remember your current flavor of the week.” I frowned at that and was about to tell her that I don’t usually like to use pet names when she held a hand up, halting any words I was going to say. “I’m not done.” I shook my head and waited for her to continue. “Second, I don’t have to tell you my name or anything at all considering again, we don’t know each other and…”
“We could.” She paused and looked straight at me while I looked into her eyes. “We could get to know each other because I really do want to. And for the record... ” I took a step towards her when I did while she just stood unmoving. “I don’t like to use pet names.” she tilted her head to side slightly and had this adorable confused look on her face where her face scrunched up; it was so cute. God she is so cute; what the f**k is wrong with me!? I’ve barely known this girl for 20 minutes and I’m already interested in her to the point where I’m thinking she’s cute? This is a new feeling for me.
“I don’t like to use pet names because it puts stupid thoughts into the girls head that I actually care when in reality I don’t.” Her cute confused look turned into an angry one but to me she still looked so cute.
“You’re such an asshole.”
“I never said I wasn’t one, sweetheart.”
“Don’t call me that!! I’m not your sweetheart and if you call me that one more time, I’ll hit you!!” I laughed and crossed my arms across my chest; looking at my fiery angel.
“I’d like to see you try, sweet-” before I could finish my head snapped to the side; she punched me. I brought a hand up to my jaw and massaged it a bit; damn she can hit. I looked back at her and if looks could kill, the one she was giving me would do just about that.
“Girls are not objects. They are people; human beings, you d**k! Where do guys like you get off thinking it’s right to use them as if they are? I get that men don’t care but you would think that you assholes would take a girls feelings into consideration at least once in a while. Men will never change I see.” she glared at me then started to walk past me to leave. I caught her wrist and pulled her to me. She tried to get out of my grasp but couldn’t; I wrapped my arms around her again and I’m not lying when I say I like having her in my arms. Her arms were between us with her hands resting on my chest again and I couldn’t help but bring her closer to me. She was about to say something when I stopped her.
“It’s my turn to talk, babe.” she pushed against my chest and glared at me. I smiled and leaned down to look directly into her eyes; god they were so… beautiful. Chocolate brown with what looked like gold flecks in them; she has eyes you can’t help but get lost in. “Like I said, I don’t usually use pet names because it puts unnecessary thoughts in girls heads that us guys want a steady relationship when we just wanted a casual f**k. And yes, most guys only want to get laid and then forget the girl the next day but not all of us are like that; trust me.” She stared at me for a few seconds before she busted out laughing; the kind of laughing when you throw your head back and laugh with your whole body. If I wasn’t holding onto her she would’ve doubled over next. She leaned forward and rested her head on her hands while she blew out a breath before lifting her head up to look at me.
“Let me go. Please.” I sighed and let her go, watching as she moved back a little. “Thank you” she mumbled before continuing “well, it was nice having this… interesting interaction but if you would excuse me… goodbye” she slowly started to move around me. At first it looked like she was going to go into Onyx but stopped for a few seconds before turning to the side and started walking towards what I guess is her car; it looked like a blue Honda. She got in and drove away and while she did, I couldn’t stop myself from whispering “goodbye, angel. Until we meet again.”
And we will. I need to find out what her name is. I find that out and I find her. I couldn’t wait to see my fiery angel again; the thought of it brought a smile to my face.
