ZARA POV
We crept silently up the dark, moon mountain, our group surrounding me like a pack of wolves circling their prey. Even the small wolf, who had always been quiet, regarded me with a sidelong glance, her silence more intimidating than any words. I felt like a prisoner, guilty of a terrible crime, though I knew not of what.
I knew that Hero wouldn't stoop so low as to put a chain around my neck. Yet, I couldn't deny the recklessness of my actions. No one forced me into this situation. I could have chosen a different path, a safer one. But here I was, entangled with the very man I thought would be my savior, my ticket to a better life.
I knew that if I needed to stay with him, I needed to obey him. It was my best bet for now.
