The next time the door open, the bulky man in friar’s robes came in, dragging Hazel. “You think I wouldn’t know you came in here, snooping around?” He threw her onto the hay and she let out a frightened cry. “And you,” he pointed at me. “The king’s men are coming for you. I won’t be having you stir up trouble any longer.” I rose to my feet, staff in hand, and advanced as far as the chain would allow. Hazel scuttled behind me.
