My Godfather Forgets To Turn The Alarm Off

1135 Words
What happens when your godfather builds your house's security system for free? In my opinion, something bad occurs. Bright yellow light suddenly came out from the backyard. I shielded my eyes using my hand and tried to avert my eyes from it.  "Purge!" Appius chanted from my side.  Immediately, the light subsided. I looked at the backyard. Luckily, all of the workers outside have shielded their eyes. One of them was crouched and I thought he was hurt until I saw him holding a sack and hugging on it. It moved so much it looked like the man caught a cat in a sack.  I looked on the ground. Something like a mound with a c***k erupted on a spot beside the pool. Light seemed to flicker from under it like a light bulb being turned off and on again and again.  "Sorry, guys!" Appius said hurriedly and went outside. We followed my godfather outside and looked at him bending over the soil. He touched the flickering mound and her hand suddenly glowed too. "Eia (Come)," he chanted before the ground shook again.  Unlike the previous earthquake a minute ago, the shaking was more of an aftershock. Something spherical came out the mound and floated to Appius' hand.  "Seems like the Epsilon alarm still works," he said confidently. "That's the alarm? That little speck of glowing stone?" I asked. "Yes, Shiro. It's an Epsilon Runic, a security measure I put here to blind the people who try to break in," my godfather explained. "So you mean this stone is not the real Epsilon Runic," the worker, who seemed to be the others' manager, asked as he pointed on the large rock. "No, that thing is just a distraction," Appius answered simply.  My godfather pointed at the rock with his index finger. His fingertip glowed and the rock was destroyed to bits. The little bits of crock slowly crumbled to dust and were carried away by a strong gust of wind. “Wait…no!” the man holding the wriggling sack shouted. Something flew out of the sack and I thought it was a giant frog before it slowly glided down. It was the decapitated head from a while ago and it was now looking for its body that was nowhere to be seen. “Well, you don’t see that every day,” I uttered. Appius scratched his head and opened his palm; he pointed his hand to the floating head and shot an orange ray to it. The head glided down into the pool, its face panicked and mouth shut. And again, he couldn’t speak without the other half. The workers chased it again in a hurry – probably thinking the head would have a splash and go for a swim. However, they stopped at the edge of the pool and looked down. Out of curiosity, I went to the pool and saw what happened. The body was floating head- I mean chest up on the water. The head reattached itself to its body with the hands holding it – twisting the head in back to its body. It reminded me disgustingly of the arm from few minutes ago. Appius clapped his hands briefly as if shaking some dust away from it. “That’s why you should never mess with my stuff.” The managed went to Appius with a nervous look. “I’m sorry but I can’t help noticing your high-tier skills and spells. If I’m not mistaken, you must be Appius from the Heptagon, right?” “Yes,” Appius replied. The manager hurriedly got a pointy metal rod that resembled a pen and a stone tablet the size of a notebook out from his Inventory. “Can you please sign this? I’m a big fan.” The others started to follow. Even the guy who just got his head reattached hurried to get out the pool. My godfather looked at me and mouthed, “What else can I do?” I shrugged. Appius just snobbed like being known to a lot of people is boring. He got the metal rod and pressed the top of it like a ballpen cap. A laser point sprang from the rod’s other tip. He started to sign the stone tablets with his name in Latin letters. Weird pen, I thought, though I wanna get one. After signing the “fans” tablets, Appius walked to my direction. “I really hate being famous,” he said with a bored face. “Anyways, since they have removed the old enchantments in this house, I’ll be coming back after a few days. Maybe some few security magic can do this house some safety,” he said as he looked around the house. “Well, got to go.” “You’re leaving already? Why?” I asked. I don’t know why but this scene felt so familiar, like déjà vu and stuff. He smiled. “I still need to clear some things up, kid. Besides, if you have any questions, you can always ask these girls around you,” he said and winked. I nodded. “Okay.” Appius then moved to a clear spot just beside the tree. He got a little circle from his Inventory and threw it down the ground. It suddenly transformed into a weird vehicle. A broomstick with a handle bar like a bike appeared. It looked cool and peculiar at the same time. A meter was stuck on the middle of the handle bar while some strange knobs and buttons can be found under it.  I bet even Bulma from Dragon Ball can't do something like that, my mind said. Appius wore his goggles. "Well, I think that all I have to say," he said. "Yeah...but you promised you'll be back, right?"  "Of course, Alonio," he said with an emphasis on my name. "I'm a man of promises." And with that, he turned a metallic knob under the meter and the engine revved to life. Don't ask me how it happened, I've had enough of these weird stuff going on.  "Sayonara! (Goodbye!)," my godfather said and did a salute. Appius stood on the broomstick and held the handles. The broom-scooter now floated and sped its way on the sky. "You fine, Shiro?" Nami asked. "Yeah, I am," I said though I felt sad about my godfather leaving in such short notice.  "Well then, let's go inside," Nami said and patted my shoulder.  I went inside along with the girls. I looked at the sky. Its pink hue seemed to intensify as if Appius made it like that as a reminder he's coming back.
