I Go Kitchen Duty

1096 Words
The dinner was great. The four girls cooked a variety of food in such a short time that I swear they used some food magic or something on them. There were also a lot of stuff to eat, it looked like someone was having a birthday. There were fried chicken wings with some spicy powder on it, shrimp tempuras, miso soup and more stuff that I can't take anymore inside my tummy. The girls, however, had the time of their life eating. They finished bowls of rice in minutes like ice age cavemen. I don't know how they did it but as I watched them gobble up their food, I had the urge to have a diet. Yeah, I do really have to get some diet.  Saiko let out a big burp. "Oops, excuse me..." she said and covered her mouth. The girls laughed. I let out a chuckle. "You burp like a man, Saiko-dono," I said and stood as I got the empty plates. "Well, you can't blame me. We didn't eat anything since last night. Fighting the monsters really made me hungry," she replied and tapped her tummy.  "I'm really sorry you had to take care of me..." I said and got more of the empty plates.  Nami looked at me. "Don't be like that, Shiro. We are your guardians, okay? It's our duty to take care of you," she said. "Yeah...but you know how I hate being taken care of, right?" I asked. "Like how you can't get all these dishes with yourself?" Saiko said and helped get the dishes. "Don't worry kiddo, whether you like it or not, you can't stray away from us." Saiko assisted me on putting the plates on the sink. I put the last plates on the sink and let out a deep sigh. "This is so unfair," I said and turned the faucet on.  Saiko laughed. "But you're still the loser so you'll be on the washing duty." I pouted. "You know I can't fly well."  "Yes, I do. Either way, you'll still lose anyway. Have fun, okay?" she mocked. "We'll be just hanging out in the dining room," she said and turned around. "Oh, and by the way, after you finish washing these dishes, come back to the dining room and please bring some cups. We'll eat ice cream for dinner." I nodded and looked down on the sink full of plates. I wouldn't mind washing plates. It's just there were too many plates, it looked Saiko's whole police squad ate on our house. Of course, I couldn't do anything. I got the sponge and started wiping the utensils. As I cleaned the dishes, I thought on what Nami said before dinner, about how she and the other girls are not Japanese. Don't misunderstand me, okay? I don't have no problem with races and stuff. It's just that I couldn't shake the idea of the girls still having some things about themselves that I don't know. I don't know why - probably because I was never the type of person who lies or hides something. I wish I could know them clearly like these plates I'm washing today. I could hear the girls laughing on the dining room. They were laughing so much that I could hear Saiko snort as she laughed. Quite not the type of the pretty girl she is outside. I started rinsing the soap away from the plates. As I got a dry towel, I couldn't help but think of the things that they did just to protect me. Just yesterday, after entering the Anaphora, I discovered that my best friend was actually a girl. And he was my bro. Yeah, I know, it's peculiar and cringey at the same time. I was so deep in thought that I didn't notice there were no plates left to wipe. I got six cups and salad spoons as I went back to the dining room. "And you remember when Shiro forgot to bring his towel in the bathroom?" I could hear Nami's voice as I neared the room.  "Yeah, I remember that!" Saiko said. "He got out the bathroom butt-naked and ran quickly to his room like a ninja." I walked fast and arrived at the room. "What the hell are you all talking about?!" I shouted. They all looked at me and paused for a moment as if they were imagining how I'd look naked. They suddenly laughed after.  "You'd look hilarious running like that!" Midorima said as she cackled and slapped the table.  "So that's what you all are talking about?" I asked.  "No, we didn't talk about you as you washed the plates. We were talking about our crush. Right, girls?" Thyme said and looked at the others.  They all screamed - the kind of shriek that girls do when they meet each other, which I really don't understand at all.  "And who might that be?" I asked and put the six cups on the table.  They looked at me intently like I said something weird.  "Seriously, stop ganging up on me like that," I said.  "Why were you asking, hmm?" Fritz asked.  I looked at her. "Just out of curiousness, I guess. Why? Is the boy from our school. Wait, do I know this boy?"  They gazed at me more intently.  "Are you asking out of curiousness or just because you're jealous?" Saiko asked. I averted my gaze away from them quickly. "No! Why would I be jealous? It's not that I'm that important to you, right?"  Thyme neared her face to me that I could smell her. "He's blushing! Look!" I touched my face. "No, I'm not!"  The girls started to giggle and tease me.  "Shiro really has a crush on us!" Nami yelled. "Shiro-kun's jealous of someone!" Thyme shrieked. "Someone's envious today..." Midorima teased. "Stop it, okay!" I said, though I really was blushing. I don't know why but my face felt so hot. They went quiet, though they were still smiling. Saiko went to the fridge and got a tub of chocolate ice cream. She put a scoopful on each of the cups and sat down again.  "So, Nami has told you about our identities, right?" Midorima asked. I nodded. "Yes...is something wrong with it?"  "No, no! Nothing's wrong with it. I just think that tonight's the right time to tell you who we are," she said and put two hands together. I spooned the ice cream and put it inside my mouth. It seemed to taste bitter as they looked at me seriously.
