My Dad's Bestfriend Meets Me

When the doorbell rang, my heart suddenly skipped a beat. We didn’t call any room service or expected a visitor so whoever, or whatever, is outside the door, he’s not invited. Everyone got their weapons, if you call them weapons, in their hands. Saiko and Thyme had brandished their own weapons: two giant metal fists and a green sleek sharp vine. The other three, however, held the first thing that they could the second the doorbell rang. Nami held a hair blower like a gun and Fritz froze a whole towel so it looked like a bizarre misshapen sword. Only Midorima had the least peculiar thing on her hands - a ceramic vase that she held behind her. My staff appeared in my hand – a pole the size of my hand with a green orb stuck on the edge. I have no idea how it happened but it did. Nami nodded at Fritz. Midorima hid behind the door – her hand gripped on the ceramic vase behind her back – as Fritz slowly opened the door. “Get ready,” Saiko reminded. I hurriedly summoned five fireballs. Fritz opened the door and I shot my fireball on its direction. My fireballs sped on the door as Thyme’s green vine-weapon glowed with energy – summoning thorny bushes on the doorstep. Saiko shot some red-colored crescent waves of energy and Nami used the hairblower to shoot a gust of wind. A silhouette of a man suddenly appeared and, startled, Fritz and Midorima smashed the vase and frozen towel on the man’s head before backing away. With my fireballs, Nami’s wind gusts and Fritz’s iced towel, the whole door was covered with mists. The girls started to cover me. The mist slowly subsided as the silhouette on the door began to become clear. I hope it was not one of the hotel’s employees because if it was, he couldn’t have survived our combined attack. I couldn’t see who was on the door clearly but he seemed so familiar…the stature, the shape of the head, it looked like I saw it once. “Sadao-san?” I uttered. The mist already disappeared when Sadao-san’s whole figure became clear. He was just standing, his hand still on the doorknob, and stared at the empty air – appalled by our attacks. I tried hard not to laugh. A few pieces of broken ceramic and ice was falling down his hair so it looked like the ceiling broke and fell on his head along with the fridge. His Bohemian shirt was singed with three black smoking burns. Besides these, he looked fine and unhurt – just confused. The girls bowed awkwardly and I did the same. Sadao-san went inside and brushed the broken ceramic off his hair. “Quite a good way to welcome us” When he said us, I looked up. There was someone else behind him. I rubbed my eyes and looked again. I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. It looked like he had another version of him, like an evil clone, behind his back. I stared a little bit longer. The man behind him had red shoulder-length hair and a youthful stern face. He even looked younger than me. He looked a lot like my godfather except that he had less wrinkles, was taller, and had a more muscular body than Sadao-san. He looked so familiar that I stared at him, trying to remember where I’ve seen him – probably on TV since he looked like an actor. Saiko ran and hugged her grandfather. “Hello, Gramps! You should’ve called before you came.” She then hugged the man behind Sadao-san. “Long time no see, Pops!’ I couldn’t believe what I heard. “Pops? You mean he’s your father?” I asked Saiko and pointed at the young-looking man. The man behind him stepped forward and his figure became clearer. He was wearing a formal suit with a red & white tie along with white tattered jeans. He had a single earring on his ear in the shape of a (or an actual) fang. If Saiko didn’t tell me he was her Dad, I’d think he was her fiancé. He was holding something in his hand – something red and bright. “I see…Elemental Shot as a first skill. You remind me of your father.” He opened his palm and a fireball, my fireball, floated out. “Though you have to practice your accuracy...” “You knew my father?” I asked. He closed his hand and the fireball disappeared. “Sorry for the late introduction. I’m Saemon Takao, Saiko’s father and your godfather.” I really hate surprises. Of course, Saiko had a father. On top of that, he was also my godfather. That’s why he looked so familiar. He was the one that was accompanied by Sadao-san back in the memory Sadao-san showed me – the moment when I was almost combusted to death by my powers. Small world, isn’t it? We assembled on the dining room. Saiko hastily prepared some tea as all of us sat around the circular table. Saiko’s father put a box wrapped with a red ribbon on the table. “Red velvet cake, your favorite dessert, Saiko-chan,” he said and unwrapped the box. I wanted to ask how the box managed to be untouched and not damaged but I set the thought aside. “Thanks, Pops, butI’m not a child anymore,” Saiko answered with her face flustered. “Come on, you love this, sweetheart,” he smiled and sliced the cake with a bread knife (I have no idea where it came from). Saiko pouted. “Dad!” As they argued, I thought how Saiko-dono and Saemon-san looked and acted so similar. Both of them had this aura that makes you think that you’re weak but you’re also strong in some ways. Saiko-san also had red hair but only streaks of them while Saemon-san’s was whole. Saemon-san also had a handsome face just as how cute Saiko-dono is. Sadao-san chuckled. “You two are really like cats and dogs, hmm?” “We’re not!” they said in chorus. Saemon-san cleared his throat. “Besides, I hardly have any time for my daughter so it’s normal if we argue, okay? Anyways, (he looked at me) we need to have a talk.” I pointed at myself. “What? M-Me?” “Yes, you kiddo,” he replied. “Perhaps, you know what this is…” He got something out of his Inventory – which was a black vortex-stuff that Figures use to store magical items – and showed it to me. It was a red marble with some orange-dust swirling inside it. It took me some time before recognizing it. However, it couldn't be possible. “Is t-that…?” “Yes, Shiro,” Saemon-san guessed as if he read my mind. “This is an Amaterasu Bead.”
