Mallory took out her dagger, making the same damage as the one she’d mended. The poppet stopped disintegrating. She let out a long, slow breath. “I was killing them?” Danae rested a hand on Mallory’s shoulder for a moment. “It wasn’t deliberate. Most times it isn’t a problem repairing what has been done to a poppet. Sometimes though, people have paid mages or apothecaries to help them.” Mallory looked at the rest of the damage that she hadn’t repaired yet. “Should I keep going?” Danae nodded. “A little bit at a time, but be ready to replicate the damage if the poppet starts to disintegrate.” It took Mallory a few minutes before she could bring herself to repair more of the poppet.
