Reaching the large house, Mallory peered in a window while she was still invisible. Shock arrowed through her. Rass was in the room along with the woman who’d held a blade to Brodie’s throat and two other men. She remained where she was, staring open mouth at the scene in front of her, only moving away from the window to press herself against the outside wall when she became visible.
Emica shapeshifted, her ears remaining that of a fox. “What did you see?”
“Someone I would have preferred not to see.” Mallory made herself invisible again to peer through the window.
“I’ll check out the houses around here.” Emica shapeshifted and ran towards the closest house before Mallory could say anything.
